After google announced its google pixel people thought Google had given up on partnered smartphone production and had become fully independent of smartphone hardware manufacturing companies , But Google seems to have started another series of partnered smartphone production that is not the Nexus.

Last year Lenovo released the first Google Tango enabled phone ( Lenovo Phab 2 pro) with its aim not far fetched, google's aim was to eradicate the ambiguity that goes along with experiencing Augmented reality. The Lenovo phab 2 pro was a 6.4 inch smartphone and now google has brought Augmented reality to much smaller 5.7 inch smartphone.
Asus just announced the second Google Tango enabled phone The Asus zenephone AR. This device does not only support the Google Tango feature but it Also supports Google day dream ( Google's day dream VR headset).


Below is a quick review of this smartphone;

DESIGN

As seen earlier this device is a 5.7 inch device, it features a leather covering on the back. On the leather covering you will find a square frame that contains its camera and the optical hardware needed for this device to run its Tango feature and below this frame you will find its Tango logo. Taking a front view of this device you will find its front shooter and earpiece side by side on top and on the bottom you will find its home button which doubles as a finger print scanner in between two capacitive keys. Taking a view of the bottom of this device you will find a 3.5MM head phone jack, a micro phone port , a USB type C port, and a speaker port. On the left side of this device you will find its volume keys together with its power button just below and on the right you will find its sim tray port. You are going to find visible antenna bands because this device features a metal frame.
In case you are wondering not all smartphones with metal frames feature visible antenna bands. Asus zenefone 3 deluxe is an all metal phone with no antennHARDWARE

HARDWARE


A quick scan of its spec sheet reveals a 5.7 super amoled quad HD display with a resolution of 1440 X 2560, A 23MP Tango camera with sony IMX318 sensor which is choked with motion tracking and depth sensing sensors and also this camera features optical image stabilization and Asus quick Tritech autofocus system, An 8MP front shooter is also featured on this device. This smartphone is the first to feature 8GB of ram , Asus claims with this ram size you are are not going to experience any form of lag when using the Tango feature.
