Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, said on Sunday, 8th January, 2017 that people who killed others in the name of religion in the country were insane.

Vice Pres., who spoke at the 2017 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration Service in Abuja, said President Muhammadu Buhari had always asserted that Nigerians should not be deceived by those who claimed to kill in the name of religion.

The VP, who praised the armed forces for their strides in the North-East, urged Nigerians not to forget the labour of their heroes.

Prof. Yemi Osinbajo quoted from 2 Timothy. 2:3-4 in the Holy Bible, said the military would bring back sanity to Southern Kaduna.

He said, “We remember our departed military heroes. Against the Boko Haram, they stood side by side and fought the insurgents. The President said and I quote, ‘The military that I joined never recognised tribe or religion, we fought side by side. We must never be deceived by those who kill in the name of religion. Anyone who kills another, and says God is great, is insane. He does not understand what he is saying.’

“Today, we celebrate our fallen heroes. We do so with the wisdom of the scriptures. The battles they fought against are the battles to ensure that good prevails over evil in Nigeria.

“Many of our soldiers died in the North-East. At some point, this evil ideology of the Boko Haram had taken over 14 Local Government Areas in this country, before the military engaged them and won.

“Soldiers occupy a special place in the gospel of Jesus Christ. The military profession is the only profession to which the saints are compared.”

The Prelate, Methodist Church, Dr. Emeka Uche, in his sermon on the occasion, urged the political office holders and Nigerians to shun corruption in their daily lives and embrace righteousness.

“The kingdom of God is around us, and Jesus asked us to seek first that kingdom. We must acknowledge God’s supreme power in our lives and do His will. I see hope in Nigeria and our country will start to do the right things,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Catholic Archbishop of Jos, Most Rev Ignatius Kaigama, has condemned the recent killings in some communities in Southern Kaduna.

Kaigama, who is the President, Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, said this in an article titled, ”The Sacredness of Life Versus the Slaughter of Innocent Nigerian Citizens Today.”

The article was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Jos.

The cleric, who expressed worry over the wanton destruction of lives and property in Southern Kaduna, added that Nigeria had gone through difficult moments lately, hence in dire need of total peace.

He said the attacks and counter attacks in Southern Kaduna would rather aggravate Nigeria’s challenges and further impoverish the poor masses.

The cleric said that no one had the right to take the life of another person at will, unless God, the creator and giver of life.

He added, ”…It is a pity that the younger generation in Nigeria is growing with an unfortunate impression that life is very cheap and can be taken away by anyone or group.”

Is that d best U can do,pastor Osunbade?
What about a follow up on why d suspects including d person who incited d crowd in d Kano killing were all freed?
Why not be specific and mention d southern Kaduna killings where only christian communities are targeted??
It is now confirmed that Osama BinHary merely used U and Ur "pastorship" to attempt to hide d fact that he's a religious extremist cos d same way he's been silent on d killing of christians is also hw he has been appointing only northern muslims to fill most of d sensitive positions in d country.

I commend the government for their success on the fight against Boko Haram insurgency. But I think a lot of fierce work need to be done against the Fulani militia.
If the government fails to protect citizens, citizens have the right to revolt. Consent of the governed.

Pastor (Prof.) Osinbajo

You are a pastor and a professor of law and not a medical doctor.

Those who kill in the name of religion are not insane, THEY ARE TERRORISTS. End of story.
