At least three people have been killed in a clash between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in Niger state late on Thursday, January 12.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that those killed were a police inspector, an officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and a civilian were killed in Sabon Daga village.

The police confirmed the incident through the state’s spokesperson DSP Bala Elkalla in Minna, the state capital on Friday, January 13.

Elkalla said that police had contained the situation which occurred in Bosso Local Government Area of the state and also revealed that one of the leaders of the two parties involved in the clash had been arrested and was providing the police with useful information.

“We have stationed sufficient number of policemen in Sabon Daga village as well as six neighbouring villages to prevent any further attacks.

“We will get to the root of the matter and those found wanting will surely be prosecuted,” he said.

At least four people were killed and some others injured in clashes between herdsmen and farmers in the same village on Tuesday, January 10.

Meanwhile, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Dr Matthew Kukah has berated those who claim they kill in the name of God.

Dr Kukah, who made the statement at a book launch in Abuja yesterday, January 12, stated that those who kill in the name of God do not have a sense of confidence in the God they worship.

Why can't states enact laws that will limit the activities of these herdsmen since the FG is obviously not ready to do anything about it?
What sort country is this that no day passes without news of killings? Tufiakwa!

I just dont get why security personnels allow this to happen. Fulani herdsmen most of the times walk on foot, so arresting these terrorists should not be so hard as it is currently portrayed.

Buhari boys? Yes, no doubt but wishing evil for innocent people, I mean people of SW makes you more Buhari than Muhamadu Buhari himself.
Inasmuch as we play here, you need to show the human side of you and stop wishing death for nobody 'cos there ain't coming back from there.
