cheruv: The entire strength of the Gambia military is not up to 2000 men. Nigerian police from just two states can take them out so easily. Once ECOWAS forces cross into Gambia tomorrow, they will take over the country easily. In fact, I am not expecting any real fighting. |

cheruv:Chai see this man, everybody all over the world is telling the man to step down, you are here advising him on how to get his people killed. Like what exactly do you have to gain by hoping he remains stubborn and the eventual invasion of his country. |

Pierocash: Except Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. Perhaps we can begin to understand the trouble and trauma that that man saved us from. Even if he resisted and was going to be tried for war crimes, tonnes of Nigerians would have died first and economy traumatized. The man GEJ was not smart, in my thinking neither was he a good leader (as they come), but he etched his name in Gold in taking that singular decision. God bless the otuoke fisherman. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Yes. They should invade and see the outcome. Buhari wants to destroy another african country for exactly what he us guilty of. Who has bombed Daura since 2001 that Buhari serially refused to accept unfavorable election results? |

cheruv:Oga hold on if a UNSC resolution is passed all those ones na story France/UK would simply bring their warships and then launch a couple of tomahawk missiles plus an air campaign and there would be no such thing as Gambian armed forces again. Secondly, January 20th jammeh would lose legitimacy to rule, if his soldiers step one foot on Senegalese soil ECOWAS will no longer require a UN mandate to take him out. Finally, whoever is advising jammeh isn't doing a good job because Gambia has a weak military and it won't cost ECOWAS/AU much to take him out. But if he is ousted by force he would either die in the process or end up in the Hague... |

drnoel: No African nation would dare go to war with Nigeria if Buhari refuses to step down in 2019. UK, France, and Germany would lead the onslaught after the US moves an Enterprise into the Atlantic. South Africa may send their frigates sha. ECOWAS is doing show of strength because Gambia's army is less than 2000 man strong and they don't have the money to prosecute a long, bitter war. Nigeria is the exact opposite. You wouldn't just have to take out the sit-tight President, you'll also have to secure the region where the President is from, else the country will roll into a civil war. Or do you think if the US/UK lead an onslaught to uninstall Buhari because he lost to a Southerner, that the basta.rds up not would not use that as an excuse to start a progrom on Southerners in the North. Clearly, the South would retaliate and na so civil war go start. This is exactly why the US impressed on Jonathan to accept the results of the elections even before the elections and ask Abdusalami to broker a peace accord. Nigeria will become a Libya if the President dies or is forced to leave the seat by what appears to be an international intervention. Even Ivory Coast was not resolved by ECOWAS. They were dragging their feet because South Africa was behind Laurent. The French intervention was so swift and decisive because as we all know, francophone countries in Africa are pretty much still French colonies. By the way Buhari is not so daft that he would organize a free and fair election in 2019. Any incumbent in Africa that organizes a free and fair election should be prepared to vacate the presidency. If he isn't ready to vacate, he'd simply not organize a free and fair election. A bloody election is better than a disgraceful take-over. Jammeh effed up by conducting a free and fair election if he truly wanted to retain power. -Lord 2 Likes |
