The Chief Imam and Abuja Branch Missioner of the Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society of Nigeria (NASFAT), Alhaji Sharafudeen Abdulsalam Aliagan, has urged the federal government to immediately release the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) also known as the Shiite sect, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, in the interest of peace and justice.

He gave the advice yesterday in Abuja when he led a delegation to the corporate headquarters of Media Trust to appreciate the translations of the weekly Friday Khutbah (sermons) in the Aminiya title of Daily Trust newspapers.

He said the government should carry out a holistic research on the activities of the group and what they wanted to achieve to be able to understand and relate with them.

“All matters can be resolved peacefully. He (El-Zakzaky) should be released, especially that a court has given a judgement on that. We don’t want an untoward happening over his detention,” Aliagan said.

He also said despite the efforts of the Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, Nigerian Muslims were yet to be as united as expected, as some common challenges that should have been resolved long ago still exist.

Let him plead with Buraitai and learn a lesson on how you approach a Military General in a Knowledge base Society different from Arabs. For what he did in Zaria, El Saksaky is only lucky that his entire family has not been wiped out. You can't try what he did in Iran or even in nearby Sudan.
