Out of some of the recently released declassified files by American CIA, it has been revealed that the intelligence outfit knew that Nigerian Head Of State in the 80s and now President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari was to be ousted.

It is further revealed that the CIA knew that it was the third in command, General Ibrahim Babaginda (IBB) who was to remove him.

This information is not new. Even Buhari himself said in one interview some years back that he was well aware of the IBB coup. He refused to foil the coup plot because he would have to kill all of them in accordance with military rule and he doesn't want to be responsible for the deaths of so many junior officers simply because of political power.
