JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia (Reuters) - Nigerian President Umaru Yar'Adua is in good health and may perform a pilgrimage to Mecca on Thursday, a clinic in Saudi Arabia said, as concern mounted in Nigeria about his medical condition.
Yar'Adua left suddenly for Saudi Arabia on Monday, for what his office said were "follow-up medical checks" with his personal physicians in the Saudi Red Sea port of Jeddah.

Yar'Adua has travelled to Saudi Arabia in the past to seek treatment for a chronic kidney problem, raising questions -- particularly among his opponents -- about whether he will be strong enough to stand for a second term in 2011 elections.

"The Nigerian president is in good condition. He underwent routine internal medical checks and had lunch today at the hospital," a spokesman for the King Faisal Takhassussi Hospital in Jeddah said.

"He may well leave tomorrow to perform a pilgrimage to Mecca," the spokesman said.

Yar'Adua has regularly sought medical treatment in Germany as well as Saudi Arabia in the past and his health was a source of concern even before he assumed the presidency.

He has not yet confirmed whether he plans to stand again in presidential elections in 2011 in Africa's most populous nation but key figures in the ruling party have pledged support if he decides to do so.

While I pray that he recovers early. I think pronouncing his health status as "GOOD" is laughable.

Let them just tell us he is improving and responding well to treatment.

We just like deceiving ourselves in this country

There's no problem with optimism, I too, pray for the president's health.
However, to say this of someone with acute pericarditis: "The Nigerian president is in good condition. He underwent routine internal medical checks and had lunch today at the hospital," is simply so contradictory, and every medical doctor in the house would agree. It's like saying someone is swimming in Lagos Bar beach and playing polo in Sokoto at the same time angry
Have you ever seen somebody with pericarditis, to be speaking about perfoming the hajj? The logistics of carrying someone on a ventilator with a full entourage of intensive care personnel doesn't look real or imaginable for hajj.

============

Fresh information has revealed that President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua currently hospitalized at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital And Research center, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia has been in coma for the greater part of the weekend and currently placed under intensive care.

His current state of health was responsible for the influx of Government officials who departed Nigeria for Saudi Arabia last weekend.

Amongst those said to have rushed to the Saudi Hospital after learning about the condition of the President were Governors Bukola Saraki, Issa Yuguda, Chief Economic Adviser to the President, Tanimu Yakubu and some other children of President Yar’Adua.

Pointblanknews.com had exclusively reported that Doctors further confirmed that President Yar’Adua’s organs had failed over the weekend fueling an alarm raised by a very senior member of the entourage that the President’s condition has become precarious.

A source at the hospital in Jeddah informed Pointblanknews.com that throughout the weekend, the President was in coma and was immediately rushed to the Intensive care Unit, ICU. The source disclosed that on Saturday particularly, President Yar’Adua was in and out of the ICU and was placed on life support equipment after he was alleged to have severally gone into coma.

According to the source, “we were very scared that something might happen because at the weekend none of us here could sleep, his situation became worse and he was not responding. On Saturday was the worst of the days and they had to take him to the ICU.”

The source added, “we are just hoping and praying that nothing happens because he has still not responded, but we hope.”

Other hospital sources confided in Pointblanknews.com that due to influx of visitors wanting to see the President, the Hospital has asked that the number of visitors allowed to see the President be reduced. Only the Chief Security officer, the President’s wife, his daughters and few other top government officials have been cleared to have access to where the President is.

The source also confirmed that top Government officials who visited the President are requesting that the President be flown back to Nigeria as soon as possible.

Only recently, doctors officially confirmed that President Yar’Adua is suffering from “acute pericarditis,” a deadly ailment that result from Churg–Strauss syndrome.

I pray Yaradua lives.
But wisdom demands him to step down.
When the body system is not fit for burdens of presidency,
His life should be more important to him than power that will be left sooner or later.
Even Kanu of today can't boast of putting up excellent performances like he did in
Ajax, Inter, Arsenal or Olympic.
Yar'adua should in wisdom let his mind rest from unnecessary load of stress associated with his position as president.

As for the video posted above, the picture their is not even of yaradua.

I beleive the poster only wants to give us some bits of comedy.

I dont know close you are with Yaradull, or your benefits from his governement.
But i think you and his wife are his number 1 enemy, you want the poor guy to die in power jst becoz of your selfish reasons, just like every other selfish politicians around him. If you indeed truely love yarasick, you would not come here trying to defend him , but advice him resign and take good care of his health. I really pity for the guy coz God is giving him chance to resign and live longer, but he prefer to stick in power and die soon.
That is his decision sha.

That was pure deceit, the person in the photos is not a Nigerian and definitely not Yara dua. If you enlarge the video clips you will clearly see that the person on the threadmill is an Arab man, speaking Arabic.

Why do some people tell lies just to support their positions

True. When organs are affected in a Churg Strauss victim then one has to consider the serious risk of fatality. We all know that the condition is chronic and without cure. The best a sufferer can gain is remission. I doubt Yar Adua has experienced considerable periods of remission with his battle against this disease since he has been President . Pericarditis is a complication of end-stage Churge Strauss syndrome. We know Mr.President's Kidneys (an organ) and Skin (an organ also) are affected. The Power brokers , for the sake of their own selfish and wicked agenda, are holding back and/or distorting vital info about Yar Adua's true state of health . Logically it does not look good for Mr. President . If at all he cares about Nigeria and Nigerians he should do the right thing voluntarily.  A more pragmatic nation will insist on the removal of Yar Adua as per the bigger issue of the effective leadership of 150 million people.

http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/library/churg-strauss-syndrome/DS00855.html

Churg-Strauss can affect many organs, including your lungs, skin, gastrointestinal system, kidneys, muscles, joints and heart. Without treatment, the disease may be fatal. Complications depend on the organs involved and may include:

Peripheral nerve damage. Peripheral nerves extend throughout your body, connecting your organs, glands, muscles and skin with your brain and spinal cord. Churg-Strauss syndrome can damage peripheral nerves (peripheral neuropathy), especially those in your hands and feet, leading to numbness, burning and loss of function. In some people, this damage may be permanent.
Skin scarring. The inflammation may cause sores to develop that can leave scars.
Heart disease. Heart-related complications of Churg-Strauss syndrome include inflammation of the membrane surrounding your heart (pericarditis), inflammation of the muscular layer of your heart wall (myocarditis), heart attack and heart failure.
Kidney (renal) damage. If Churg-Strauss syndrome affects your kidneys, you may develop glomerulonephritis, a type of kidney disease that hampers your kidneys' filtering ability, leading to a buildup of waste products in your bloodstream (uremia). Although kidney failure isn't common with this disease, it can be fatal when it occurs.
