Scientist is creating robots that can help to look after elderly ones at homes or anywhere they are. It is believe that if these humanoid robots are developed with cultural awareness, they will in taking care of elder ones.
The team said they are working on a £2m project to develop versatile robots which can aid everyday task, like taking tablets, as well as offering companionship.
These robots are named Pepper robots which would be developed by the scientist from Middlesex University and University of Bedfordshire. This programme is supported by Japanese government and European Union and they will conclude the researches within the three years

"In the UK alone, 15,000 people are over 100 years of age and this figure will only increase. “Assistive, intelligent robots for older people could relieve pressures in hospitals and care homes as well as improving care delivery at home and promoting independent living for the elderly.
“It is not a question of replacing human support but enhancing and complementing existing care.”
She added: "We are starting with care homes and with people who are semi-independent living in sheltered housing, but we do believe that in the future the robots would become acceptable for people to have in their own homes."
Amit Humar Pandey, the company’s chief scientist, said they want to build such robots which can work according to environment and with human being in harmony in order to make earth a happier and safer place, the BBC reported
