We all know that herdsmen are destroying property and there has been clashes amongst farmers in Nigeria and across region. The issue is we don't know to what degree. Then we see news outlets and social media posting stories about supposed attacks without names of people involved. Just pictures and story.

The issue about property rights and murder is serious enough without makin up stories. I would like Nigerian Bureau of Statistics to give numbers of reported incidents by state, ethnicity of people involved and dollar cost of damage. The report should have I say 5 yrs time span.

If you guys feel the same request the data too. The NBS seems like pretty well run department hopefully they get to it. All you have to do is copy and paste.

He's too examples of sensationalist stories. Social media very light on details claiming everything fulani.

Nameless Enugu man gets attacked by herdsman with no name of face.

Nameless man with shotgun get killed by fulani man with axe. This is just tweet.

Anyway I requested for data on this from NBS. If you guys want to improve on request please do. Here's my full request.

I would like Nigerian Bureau of Statistics to give Crime statistics on herdsman farmer conflicts. The report would be beneficial to cool down the hysteria and give politicians reasonable magnitude of the issues affecting states and country. Incident of property damage, theft of cattle, dollar of said damages, assults and murders over 5 year span.

The report should indicate incidents by state, ethnicity of people involved and dollar cost of damage to crops over 5 year time span.

Another reason I feel this story being sensationalised is politicians are telling outlandish stories about herdsmen causing trouble being from foreign countries (Mali, Libya and Senegal).

Blue3k:
Let's start with basic set of questions.

Can any of these people cite any record of foreigner invading Nigeria doing these crimes? Is there any court cases you can cite? Is there any deportation records?

In Ekiti everyone arrested so far have been Nigerian citezens.

There has always been problem between herdsmen and farmers, especially in northern Nigeria. It has existed for hundreds of years and will continue to be until solutions like ranching is adopted. There used to be cattle paths running across states, and it has minimized the problem, but now tribalism, politics and religion have caused an issue with this policy. What happened during GEJ between the Fulani and the natives is far worse than now, but has never been sensationalized or linked to the president. But what you find now are people with ulterior motives trying to get at the president because he's a Fulani.

A certain Benue governor once said that they've lived with Fulanis for ages, but these ones he's now seeing must be something else.

So if we had statistics it would show the incident of violence has risen over say 10yr time frame. Its seems your only person who commented in depth to say the issue hasn't been over blown. My thoughts are the leaders in state should do their job and regulate these nomads.

Ranches will work. It's free market to start ranch.
