The problem with most nigerians is that they dont learn from history.

Is he isinuating that we go back to looting?

History Being Repeated?
.
In 1983:
.
$1 = N 1
£1 = N2
Volkswagen Beetle = N400
Foods were in abundance
Kids were in school
Businesses were booming with vibrant
economy and people were gainfully
employed.
No illegal arrest or media trial.
Rule of law was maintained.
.
On 31 December, 1983, he and his criminal
gang struck with the excuse of tackling
widespread corruption and within few
months,
.
$1 = N15
£1 = N40
Volkswagen Beetle = N8, 000
Kids dropped out of school because their
parents couldn't afford their school fees
anymore.
Businesses closed down.
Foods were rationed as people queued up
for essential commodities.
Many Nigerians lost their jobs because the
economy collapsed.
Innocent Nigerians were arrested for free
speech and human rights violated with
impunity.
The Constitution was suspended.
.
He blamed Alh. Shagari's govt for this mess.
He blamed corruption, yet he jailed Dr. Alex
Ekwueme (the Vice President) but left
Shagari (the president) in his palace.
.
But when another gang threw him out, and
within few months, Nigerians started
smiling again. Our kids returned to school,
food was in abundance again, Nigerians got
their jobs back and the economy was
revived etc.
.
In 2015:
.
$1 = N197-210
£1 = N289-320
Cars were affordable with local
manufacturers smiling to the bank.
Food was in abundance (at least a bag of
rice was N7, 000)
Kids were in school
Businesses were booming with vibrant
economy and people were gainfully
employed.
No illegal arrest or media trial.
Protesters (esp BBOG) were not killed or
teargassed.
.
On 29 May, 2015 when he was 'jega-ed' into
power:
.
$1 = N315-490
£1 = N550-610
Local car manufactures shut down their
plants due to harsh economic condition.
Famine was unleashed on Nigerians and a
bag of rice rose to N22, 000/27, 000 while
minimum wage remains N18, 000.
Kids dropped out of school.
Businesses closed down, millions lost their
jobs and inflation is in double digits.
Illegal arrest, disregard of Rule of Law and
media trial is the order of the day.
Peaceful Protesters (esp IPOB) are being
killed like chicken without provocation.
.
Just like in 1985, he's blaming corruption
and his predecessor for the same mess he
created within few months of assumption
of office.
"YOU CANNOT PUT A CROWN ON A CLOWN
AND EXPECT A KING."

Dollars was available during GEJ's time because of massive inflow of dollars. It means dollars was not scarce due to high prices of Crude Oil and sales in large quantities.

Today, due to the drop in demand of Crude Oil international, low Crude Price and disturbances in the Niger Delta, there is less dollars in the system. There is low sales with low Crude Oil Prices.

So it is not a case of massive looting or massive savings.

Thanks dude. Most Nigerian youths are blackheads

you're correct, this is the first time someone is trying to do things differently and I think what we should do is to support him with prayers, we are at the crossroad Israelites encountered on their way to freedom from the bondage of the Egyptians, all we need to do now is to ask God to make a way where there seem to be none

I came across this question asked by a facebook user who happen to be a Northerner, on the incessant hike in the dollar exchange rate. See the question:

How did the Dollar stay at N170 for 4 years under "massive looting of surpluses"? How is it now at N510 under "massive savings"? Why?
Illiterates everywhere. It remained at N170 becos the govt had excess petrodollar to auction at N170/$. Go school them no go gree. Na bomb them like . . .

The reality of the exchange rate differential is simple. Looting and savings aside, the current government got the macroeconomics completely wrong. You need savvy men to run your economy and this current government has shown absolute ignorance as far as the economy is concerned. The exchange rate may dip further in few months to an all time low.

I am not saying Buharis govt has been good. But don't you think the problem might be our thirst for foreign goods?
Or have you ever bought a car assembled in Nigeria?
It was even Here someone was complaning he can't eat imported rice anymore.

See the problem in the 1980's maybe was PMB's fault, but today's problem is our collective fault..
1. Everyone wants imported goods
2. Govt bans imported goods ( which makes it v.expensive) then local manufacturers jackup their prices.. E.g chicken, turkey, rice.. E.t.c
3. Govt abuse power, we just sit down, watch and pray our turn comes to get into govt.

So you see its our fault. And until we are ready, nothing will change.

when a barrel of crude was $20 dollars, the exchange rate was 80 naira to a dollar. Dollars are scarse because foreign investors have pulled out about $80b from the economy due to the lack of a proper economic direction by this administration. The cluelessness of this administration is legendary, it took six months to assemble a cabinet and an economic team, within that period investors pulled out their investment s because of the uncertainties that still persist till now.
