The Rivers state Department of State Security, DSS, arrested five suspects allegedly behind the abduction and murder of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Mr Sampson Worlu even after they collected N1.5m ransom for his release.
The five suspects are facing charges at a magistrate court in Port Harcourt for his abduction and death.
According to Vanguard, after the men collected the N1.5m, they reportedly disappeared and the victim’s family members couldn’t locate them. Fortunately, men of the DSS were able to track them all down and arrest them.
Charles Worlu, a brother of the deceased hostage, said all the family want is justice.
He said the kidnappers asked the family for ransom two times. He said they first asked for one million naira and then asked for another five hundred thousand naira which they paid to them for the release of their brother, but the men still killed him.
Worlu was serving in Imo State before his abduction at Rumuokoro roundabout in Obio Akpor local government area of Rivers State.

Prophet T.B Joshua and wife, Evelyn celebrated her 47th birthday this month and in an interview with Sunday Sun, Evelyn reflects on her life with the man of God.

Excerpts below:

On how they met:

Yes, I have said it before and it’s still the same. Hmmm… how do I call it? It’s just a divine arrangement. It’s a long story but anyway we met and the only surprising thing there was that, it was the day I met him that he proposed to me.

He said ‘I like you. I want to marry you’ just like that?

Yes, but really I was skeptical because it was strange, so, I just want to thank God that it really worked out. Like I said earlier, we have been together for the past 25 years and it’s working out fine.

Great man on bed?

Hmmm… I don’t know. I wouldn’t know because no woman would love to discuss her husband to that level, but I think he’s a good man.

When you were getting mar­ried, was he deep in religion like now?

Yes, I met him as a prophet. I told you I don’t want to go into details but I actu­ally went to his place.

Some people don’t under­stand your husband, they say he’s a mysterious man with mysterious powers, when you read such stories, how do you react?

I know it’s not true. They don’t know him, he’s not a strange man, he’s not a mysterious man; he’s just dedicated to his work. He is a man who has the fear of God in him, that is it. Those stories don’t move me at all because they don’t seem to understand him.

Mama, do you feel fulfilled marrying a prophet and hav­ing three beautiful, intelli­gent children, all girls?

Yes, I feel fulfilled. I don’t even know I don’t have any son because I have lots of boys around me. In this part of the world, most especially, from where I am from, people cherish male children, but my husband didn’t give me any reason to think of that.

You mean you are not under pressure from him or his fam­ily to have male children?

Not at all! I believe when you make that a problem, you begin to see it as a problem before you. But it’s not a prob­lem to me at all.

p>Making a surprise appearance at number 2 on the list was Wizkid who had a big year in 2015 with
his single “Ojuelegba” getting remixed by superstar grime artist Skepta and American superstar, Drake. Davido sneaked in at number 3 ahead of Patoranking after a year that saw him tour extensively and release a hit collaboration with Meek Mill.
Yesterday’s number 2 and 3, Korede Bello and Yemi Alade dropped to number 5 and 6 on the final list after being displaced by Patoranking who made the list at number 4 after a year that saw him scoop several hit features and a bumper distribution deal with VP Records. Yesterday’s
number 9 Harrysong drops off the final list alongside Cynthia Morgan to be replaced by Lil Kesh and Kiss Daniel.
Making up the rest of the list are Burna Boy and Phyno atnumber 8 and 10 respectively.
Speaking after the panel session, Olisa Adibua remarked,
“It was a very robust discussion and debate because there are probably 15 or 20 Nigerian artistes who had a decent chance of making it onto the list this year, but there were only 10 slots. I’m happy that MTV Base has created this platform not just because it promotes Nigerian music which obviously is a good thing, but also because it fosters a spirit of healthy competition. I’m sure that a number of artists who were perhaps a bit unlucky not to make the list this year will work their socks off next year to make it onto the 2016 list, and that is good news for all of us whether we are involved in the music business or we just like good Nigerian music.”

Two security guards, Richard Adamu, 25; and Musa Mohammed 26, attached to an estate in Akowonjo, Egbeda, Lagos were arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for allegedly impersonating men of the Nigerian Army. It was learnt that the guards were arrested in the community in military camouflage. A handcuff, two jack knives and a Nigeria Police Force crest were said to have been recovered from the two bags found with the suspects, who hail from Adamawa State. It was gathered that the police team had stormed the neighbourhood on November 24 around 6am for an operation and had detained the guards after they could not give satisfactory explanations to the items recovered from them.

The source said: “A team of SARS operatives, led by one Sergeant Emmanuel, embarked on a patrol within Area M Command, as a proactive measure to stem bank robbery in the state. The team intercepted two young men in military camouflage with two bags. “They claimed to be members of the Nigerian Legion. A handcuff, one Nigeria Police Force crest and two jack knives were found in their bags. They were brought to the command for interrogation, but they could not give satisfactory explanations.”

One of the guards, Adamu, told the police that he bought the army uniform in a market, adding that he had never used the uniform to rob or oppress anybody. He said: “I bought the uniform in the market. I was walking along the road one day when I found the police crest. I have never used it to rob or harass people. I am a security guard.”
Mohammed said it was Adamu who gave him the clothes. He also denied using same to perpetrate any unlawful act. They were consequently arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on three counts of impersonation by a police prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuerhi. The charges read in part: “That you, Richard Adamu and Musa Mohammed, on November 24, 2015, at about 9.30am, at Akowonjo area, Egbeda, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire to commit felony to wit: impersonating yourselves as members of the Nigerian Army by putting on camouflage vests and green combat trousers; thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 79 (1b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.” “That you, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did unlawfully have in your possession; one Nigeria Police crest, a handcuff and two jack knives ─ the items you could not give a satisfactory account of, and thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 327 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.”
The accused pleaded not guilty to the alleged crime before the presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Olayinka. They were granted bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties each in like sum, while the case was adjourned till January 28, 2016.
