Fulanis should stop bearing Yoruba names. Enough of this chameleonic behaviour! It is either you are Yoruba or Fulani, you cant have it both ways. 2 Likes |

Kill Nonbelievers They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB). |

willibounce1: There are so many fulanis with Yoruba names especially those fulanis from Kwara axis. So don't be surprised if you come across names like Oloruntoyin Musa, Kolawole Ahmed, bamidele Idris and the bearers are fulanis. You may want to check out the name of Emir of Ilorin for confirmation. In one of the books I read,Fulanis were described as a cunning, vicious tribe with great cultural assimilation ability. They often use this cultural assimilation to deceive their host communities. |

duni04: This is the most dangerous recent developing aspect of the conflict; outsiders like Fayose, FFK and latterly priests & pastors are adding fuel to fire by turning the conflict into a religious one and further stoking the embers with hatred through their speeches along the already existing fragile religious divide. If we are not careful this problem;which is simply an economic tussle for a dwindling resource between two professional groups pastoralist vs farmers for land to graze against land to farm; could quickly degenerate into a bloody open conflict between Muslims and Christians and could bring the whole country down - these ppl are playing with fire. You are quite correct; indeed the problem is not religious, ethnic nor even regional but as already mentioned, an economic one; and had been with us for donkey years throughout the whole country, in the north as much as in the south, and by and large been contained via a local justice system at the grassroot (especially in the north). Whenever herdsmen stray into a farm the farmer is encouraged not to take the law into his hand but to report the matter to local Fulani head (called the Ardo) or LGA; who in turn ensure the farmer is compensated (even if it should involve selling some the cattle to pay for the damage) and the case is closed. Unfortunately, in more recent times intolerance and hatred has reached a level (especially in the south) where the farmer/community are too impatient to key into the above conflict resolution system and often resort to taking the law into their own hands, resorting to attacking/killing the herder (usually stick carrying young boys) or the cows in a disproportionate manner. This unfortunately often result in setting off the Fulani culture of revenge, involving calling for re-enforcements from their extended network of brotherhood all over West Africa, their finest armed young warriors assembling to inflict their form of revenge. In short, the problem we have today is due to the absence of justice for victims from both sides, such that the aggrieved party has no choice but to take the law into their hands, resulting in reprisals and counter reprisals. The only way to break the cycle of violence is to ensure the perpetrators are always brought to book and govt arrest anyone preaching or inciting hate and violence while media assumes professionalism and neutrality in its reporting of such incidences. The recent beheading of a supposedly innocent peace loving herdsman, may have potentially opened a new frontier of hate and violence between his clan and this local community; unless the authorities quickly step in and arrest the perpetrators, as well as trace back the perpetrators of the earlier beheading of the local community member which may have set off this seemingly latest reprisal beheading. If nothing is done, then the local community should start sleeping with one eyed opened because these Fulani will be bound by culture to take their pound of flesh in revenge; no matter how long, even if it means passing this obligation down to the next generation, they will never forget nor forgive. Unfortunately when it comes to conflict, the Fulani will often have the upper hand because they are mobile and have bush craft and the element of surprise on their side; while their opponents in local settlements will be no more than mere sitting ducks, ready for the pickings - that is why casualties are often higher on their side and why they should avoid such conflict and instead allow community elders/authorities handle such disputes; otherwise they have more to lose. In fact the recent southern Kaduna crisis had been traced back to such breakdown in conflict resolution; after a local Fulani Ardo had gone to reach agreement to pay for a herdmans damage to a farmer but before he could do so, local youths enraged with anger and hatred attacked and killed him along with any other Fulani in the vicinity - unknown to them this Ardo was well loved and respected within the vast Fulani extended fraternity; and the rest is what we have been seeing; similar causes can also be traced to the Enugu killings and so on. 1 Like |

divicoded: bros, if the killing of the Fulani man was the handwork of fayose, what about the first man killed whom no one seems to remember again here? again what has this got do with Biafra and Nnamdi KANU? again again how was this the first blood drawn since this action is as the result of the first beheading though I don't support the killing of anybody no matter who, bros, I think you are part of the problem, because I feel you will be happy to hear that some other person has been killed because of this so that you will get more reason to talk thrash about Biafra who are not even involved, Why all the hate? |

Mightyraw: You should be embarrassed to share nationality with your fellow herdmens for thinking foolishly like cavemen that they have the right to destroy people's farmlands in the name of nonsense grazing and when the owners of the farmlands say a thing they'll kill them and anybody they see within and without |

mercyville: That was I said the authorities should quickly step in and fish out the culprits on both sides in order to stave the desire for anyone to take the law into their hands and break the cycle of violence - in this case give justice to the clan of this clearly innocent herdsman, who may have no part in the earlier beheading - otherwise it is a sure banker, they will be bound by their culture to take revenge, and they would. |
