A frontline social commentator, Dr Peregrino Brimah, has advised Nigerians to focus their attention on President Muhammadu Buhari’s health status describing $9.8 million loot recovered from ex-NNPC GMD Andrew Yakubu as a distraction planted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to divert attention from Buhari.

Brimah, who made the comment in a statement he signed and issued, said going by the multi-faceted nature of the challenges rocking the nation’s economy, the most pressing challenge facing the country is health status of the president whom he previously described as the Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria.

He also berated the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as being a tool in the hands of the APC and distracting Nigerians whenever public attention is focused on the perceived weakness of the Buhari administration.

According to him, the anti-graft agency has been a political machine for persecuting perceived political foes, leaving out similarly indicted Presidency officers, ministers, heads of security agencies, and other ruling party men.

He said: “It’s gotten quite noticeable that whenever Buhari or his government is “down” the Economic Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC is “up.”“Once there are major headlines that cast the Buhari government in bad light, the EFCC takes over the headlines with updates on its activities against the corruption of the Jonathan past administration with predilection for PDP party members, their families and associates who did not switch to the ruling APC party.

“Interestingly a Vanguard article exposed the time-staging of the EFCC releases that September.

The September 24, 2016 article was captioned, “$31.4m Cash Deposit: How Patience Jonathan forced EFCC to expose matter,” and had highlights “EFFC had knowledge of fund since July” and “Why action was not taken earlier.”“

And now again as the scandal over president Muhammadu Buhari’s sickness or “hale-and-hearty” lack of it, in-spite-of his absconding to the UK, makes headlines and as Nigerians begin to protest against the government, the EFCC is “Up” again.“3 days after Buhari failed to resume work following his 18-day vacation to the Queen’s England, February 9th, 2016 saw headlines: “EFCC raids home of former NNPC GMD, Andrew Yakubu, recovers$9.2m.”“

These have rapidly been followed up with more headlines in the same class; February 11, 2017: “EFCC in another breakthrough discovers $37.5m in Diezani’s Lagos mansion,” and we can expect many more to come, back-to-back with the EFCC reliably keeping Nigerians conveniently distracted as the economy is wrecked and the Commander in chief “absconds.

”“Perhaps it’s just a coincidence; but most importantly, we will not be distracted by headlines of the EFCC doing its job the way Obasanjo set it up to: as a political machine against foe and the perceived opposition, leaving out similarly indicted Presidency officers, ministers, heads of security agencies, and other ruling party men.

Gbam!
Right on the money.
Many trolls on N/L have no idea, or just willing tools used to confuse and deceive the masses.
$100 million found here, $200 billion discovered there, $ 1 trillion found inside some body's ass, and they all jump for joy as if any of them have been convicted. They jump, because they have small brains.

Op you mean stories as these:

NLC and TUC were in this country when PDP and most especially GEJ over the last decade destroyed this country monumentally. They were silent, incoherent, indiscipline, selfish, greedy and destructive, to say the least. ---- Charlie Boy

......Says $9.8 Million Loot a Gift From Unnamed Persons
The former Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Andrew Yakubu, has admitted ownership of the recovered money of 9.8 million dollars from his home.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said on Friday in Abuja in a statement that Yakubu had reported to the commission’s zonal office in Kano and made the statement claiming the money was gift from unnamed persons.
The commission said that Yakubu, who also admitted that another 74, 000 pounds cash was recovered from him, is currently assisting in the investigation.
Wilson Uwujaren, Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, said that a special operation conducted by operatives of the commission on Feb. 3, stormed a building belonging to Yakubu in Kaduna to recover the cash.
He said that the huge cash was hidden in a fire proof safe.
Uwujaren said that the surprise raid of the facility was sequel to an intelligence which the commission received about suspected proceeds of crime believed to be hidden in the slums of Sabon Tasha area of Kaduna.
He said that on arrival at the facility, the caretaker of the house, one Bitrus Yakubu, a younger brother to Andrew Yakubu, disclosed that both the house and the safe where the money was found belong to his brother, Andrew Yakubu.
Uwujaren said that when the safe was opened it was discovered that it contained the sum of 9,772,800 dollars and another sum of 74,000 pounds.
The EFCC source said that it was the largest sum of cash the commission had recovered in recent times.
Newsmen recall that Yakubu was arraigned in June 2016 on allegations of money laundering.
He served as GMD of NNPC from 2012 to 2014 during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

Exactly!
Take the so-called discovery of $7 miilion in Andrew Yakubus's house yesterday. A serious government will do all investigations first, to stop further crimes, then prosecute, and jail the culprit----long jail term!
In Nigeria, the government raises sensational accusations and willfully retard their ability to prosecute and convict on these crimes, and yet some ill educated masses are out cheering like a mob!

It's either you are being economical with the truth or you are just ignorant.

A honest war against graft is not done in the secret, Obasanjo used Nuhu Ribadu to fight corruption and was widely published on the pages of newspapers.

As far as we are concerned your reaction is a mere blackmail that will not deter the war against corruption, we have expected corruption to fight back with everything but we're equally prepared.

It's not a coincidence. I've followed it all through last year till dates. Should there be questions about this government at anytime, stories of looting are brought to the media.

If you doubt, check the huge stories about loots. there was always an outcry or question being asked about the government.

For everyone, note that this government may not have anything to market for re-election. This is what they'll do.

When it's close to the election, the media will be a washed with news of recovered loots and psedo prosecutions... Just bookmark this post and see

There's nothing like been economical with the truth here. Though Obasanjo deserves some credit for establishing the EFCC, no one can dispute how he used the antigraft agency to chase down his perceived political foes. If you doubt this, pls google Atiku's reply to El Rufai on his corruption allegations.

Moreover, don't be deceived by these rethoric of "corruption fighting back". It's Buhari's vindictiveness and selective justice that's hitting back at him. As long as he continues to embark on predetermined graft assaults against a particular set of people, he's bound to be hounded by law of nature.

Are you surprised

If you listen to Ameachi during the Senate Ministerial Screening.

He said

" Anti-Corruption was the selling point of the APC."

And that's why they keep bringing up looting here and there, whilst most if this case are not in yielding convictions.

I concur wit the writer. Nigerians are so gullible that they are easily swayed like a polyethene.

Whenever the govt is being lambasted, thats wen EFCC wud come up wit recovered loot, discovered this and that.

We will not loose focus on the main issue which is this govt have no clear cut means of bringing us out frm the pit they dug with their clueless policies.

Since Buhari came on board, monies have been discovered and recovered no be today.

My friend frm Delta State used to say "nothing come out frm fish head".

Don't misconstrue people's clamour for holistic approach to anti corruption crusade as tactical support for graft. No reasonable Nigerian is against corruption war but it must be executed with honesty. Going after a class of people and treating others as sacred cows is what people are frowning at. Stop twisting facts.
