SPREAD THE WORD #FORTHELOVEOFBAYELSA:
CSO, Youth groups plan anti Dickson rally over Fulani land, alleged bad governance
A coalition of Youth groups and Civil Societies in Bayelsa state have said that they were planning to stage a massive anti-Governor Seriake Dickson protest on the streets of the state capital, tagged ‘Stand for the Love of Bayelsa Match” fixed for Tuesday 14th of February to coincide with the 5th year anniversary of the present administration in the state.
A statement released on Sunday in Abuja by Pastor Oyinkro Banks of the Better Bayelsa Assembly, Comrade Godson Alfred of the Independent Salyeba and Comrade Robbinson Ere of the Civil Rights Activism group, said the protest is expected to be based on five fundamental demands which includes the prompt payment of salaries of workers at the state and local government levels, prompt payment of pensioners and the owed arrears, the payment of bursaries to indigent students of higher institutions and the scholarship for students.
Other demands include the reversal of the recent self sustenance policy, stop to the government grants to the state owned institutions and the reversal of the 1200 hectares of land handed to Fulani herdsmen in the state.
The statement declared that the peaceful protest has become the last resort to prevail on the state government to reverse some of the recent government policies considered to be wrong in the state.
“The demands that needed the prompt attention of the State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson were made on behalf of the people. We believe the State Governor should accept because we are indomitable.”
According to the release, Oyinkro Banks said the aggrieved students and workers in the state called on the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo to use the opportunity of his visit to advise the state Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson on the issues of salary of workers and pension owed the people of the state.
Also, Comrade Godson Alfred of the Independent Sayelba said the protest is based on the need to make Bayelsa work “we want a Bayelsa where loans should be stopped for the procurement of exotic cars for state legislators and political appointee. We want a loan that will pay workers their salaries as at when due. We want education to be given due funding and attention.
“On the issue of land handed to Fulani herdsmen, the control over land given to the State Governor was based on trust by the people and before land can be allocated by the Governor, it must be done in consultation with the people.
Meanwhile, Pastor Oyinkro Banks also used the medium announced that he has tendered his resignation from his appointment as a non-academic staff of the state owned Jaspa Adaka Boro College of Education in protest against the wrong policies of the present administration in the state.
He denied claims that the protest was being tele-guided and sponsored from outside the state, saying “though we would have loved people to support us, we are doing this in conjunction with workers, students and others”.

Enough is enough, Seriake Dickson's impunity must stop in Bayelsa state. The only project going on right now is his private university in his village meaning he can't give account of over 90 billion naira allocation received in 2016 talk less of the refunded Paris club loan that was supposed to be used to settle workers salaries (50%)

Get your fact right! Alamco was outstanding in his relative short stay as governor but his corruption scandal soiled his image.

pls mention some of his outstanding achievements.
"Chief Alamesiegha immediately introduced scholarship scheme for Bayelsa students with a minimum 5 O'level credit (Maths and English incuded) in SSCE/GCE to study in Russia and Ukraine. This model was later to be adopted by the Rivers state government! He also established the state university, Niger Delta University in Amasoma. While Rivers was struggling to pay her indigent students in tertiary institution their bursary of TEN THOUSAND NAIRA, Gov Alamesiegha was always faithful in paying THIRTY THOUSAND NAIRA bursary to students of Bayelsa state origin in tertiary institutions (as at 2003). He constructed roads, established the only state university and employed lots of Bayelsans. In fact, Bayelsa state became a state of envy to Rivers indigens. While Peter Odili of Rivers state was arming youths and promoting cultism, Chief Alamesiegha was keen on empowering Bayelsa youths to be productive. In 2004 at the peak of cultism in rivers state, Alams was quoted to have confronted Odili with these words..."Why are you allowing your people to be killed?". Till date the achievement of Alamco has never been matched by his successors; Dr Ebele Jonathan, Chief Timpre Sylva and incumbent Seriake Dickson".

its our duty to call out inept govt officials whether at federal or state levels regardless of party affiliations but we should never criticize or attack blindly neither should we support blindly (usually to our detriment) lest we be called sycophants. The Bayelsa state governor is a woeful failure in his duties and that's what affects me and other Bayelsans cool

whether he listens or not, whether he sends his thugs to shoot at us or not, posterity will record that at least we spoke out against Dickson's greed, inept leadership and corrupt practices

Why we won't keep quiet.
1. Pay workers their salaries, both current and arrears. Salaries are more rights than Assembly members and political appointees cars. Take loans and pay all outstanding wages.
2. Pay pensioners their pension, both current and arrears. Stop treating pensioners like they don't matter. It is their right to be paid for their sacrifices and services for this generation.
3. Pay students bursaries and oversea scholarships fees.
4. Do not close down NDU for University of Africa. Provide more funding for NDU and all tertiary institutions in Bayelsa state.
5. Reveal owners of University of Africa (UoA), Toru-Orua. Reveal the identity and publish the names of the Private Partners of University of Africa (UoA)
6. NDU management publish your annual reports
7. Seven (7) SA on Events, reduce government running cost.
8. Publish the 2017 Bayelsa State Budget
9.Make public how the Paris club refunds were spent
10. Publish all the supposed schools built with 40 Billion Naira
11. Publish list of ghost workers
12. Prosecute the politicians and top civil servants involved in Ghost Workers arrangements including the speaker Mr Konbowei Benson who admitted and confessed to the crime of fraud.
13. Explain why our wage bill is still one of the highest after all the verification exercises
14. What do we use our monthly security votes to do if the State still needs to get loans to procure vehicles for security outfits.
15. Why is the government giving bursary/scholarship to a supposed private institution while students in the state owned tertiary institutions are not catered for?
16. Revive Bayelsa Palm
17. What happened to Restoration Rice?
18. Overhaul and revamp the scholarship board.
19. Revive Kolo Creek turbine and maximize power from the National Grid
20. Enact laws to regulate pageantry in the state
21. Commit to encouraging local production in Bayelsa
22. Revoke the land allocated to Fulani herdsmen. Do not jeopardise the safety of our children's future.
23. How much is saved from the supposed saving for the rainy days?
24. Mr. Governor, hold town hall meetings regularly.
25. Transparency shouldn't just be about a monthly press briefing ritual but about true accountability to the people of the State
26. We want Transparency briefing free from Government control environment
27. Publish our monthly and yearly IGR for the past five (5) years
28. Tackle unemployment
29. Publish cost of new Government House building.
30. The better policy is No Pay, No Work not No Work, No Pay.
31. Stop the intimidation, blackmailing, name calling and threats to Bayelsans, Ijaws and sympathisers of our suffering in order to silent them from expressing their constitutional rights.
