Ife is an old town in Yoruba history and is viewed as the support of human progress. As per Yoruba convention, Ife is the genealogical and profound home for all Yoruba. It is trusted that the production of the world began from Ife. Thus, it is prevalently alluded to as ''Place where there is the Source''.

The Ooni of Ife is the conventional head and is very worshiped among the Yoruba especially and the country by and large.

Officially, Ile-Ife has two nearby governments in particular Ife Focal and Ife East. The base camp of Ife Focal Neighborhood Government is on Ibadan Street while that of Ife East is at Oke Ogbo. The Olojo Celebration, an imperative occasion in the old town holds every year.
