bird from reptile?

from dinosaurs but then dinosaurs are thought to be reptiles and yet birds grin it's all very confusing to me, but the upshot is that eggs came before chickens...

creatures that evolved from single cell ones, read my former contribution again. it was jocular but largely as scientists say - at least for now. Creatures first evolved from single cells and then the ability to produce eggs then evolved along with those creatures. The evolution of eggs enabled the ability to be independent of the oceans for those creatures as they colonized dry lands. Single cells are like eggs in a sense.

Obviously the hen..
Egg can't just fall from the sky and hatch into hen. The hen came first, then developed reproductive system over the years, was able to lay eggs and hatch it's like (hen's egg can't hatch lizard/turkey and vice versa)

Crack an egg and compare the contents to a picture of an amoeba.

In Calculus and other areas of mathematical analysis, the problem question submitted by the OP would have been deemed to have taken an indeterminate form. Since chances are that the OP is not a mathematician, the answers which he would deem acceptable should not be expressed in mathematical terms.

If you share the same atheistic beliefs as Seun, the answer to your question would be Hen, since hen would have evolved from some other "bird of old". Once hen came to being after the said evolution, then it could lay eggs.

If you share the views of oritsejafor, TB Joshua, and others who believe in creationism, then the answer is again hen for obvious reasons.

If you are a free thinker,, you'd probably say that it is impossible to have an egg without a hen, but the same cannot be said about the hen i.e. you can have a hen without the egg.....2 examples, (1)cloning (2)evolution

It appears that the notion that the hen came first is more plausible

Watch this clip. Imagine that billions of years ago the primordial seas were populated by simple celled creatures like the sperm and eggs in the clip. Imagine that sperm cell and egg cell were different species closely related. At first each reproduced by splitting and then eventually by combining. Imagine that when they evolved combining reproduction a new species was born from the combination. Imagine that the new species was called aquatic man. Aquatic Man reproduced by ejaculating sperms and eggs into the sea. Eggs and sperm would combine and form man. Imagine if, eventually, through some mutation, aquatic female evolved from a few of those combining sperms and eggs. So the seas became populated by lots of aquatic men but also some aquatic females. At first aquatic females seemed like evolutionary dead-ends because they served no purpose. Aquatic men continued to spawn in the seas, the spawns combined to form aquatic men (and the occasional mutant aquatic female) completing the life-cycle of the species. Supposing soon evolution threw up a mutant aquatic man that had the predilection to spawn not in the sea but in aquatic female. lo and behold, the stomach of aquatic female swole up. Two months later Aquatic female hunched down and out of her popped a white oval shaped object. Aqatic man looked in horror, shrilled loudly and took flight at the sight. But for some reason aquatic female seemed instinctively protective of the strange oval object that popped out of her. She cradled it, observed it and otherwise cherished it. One day howver the object broke and inside of it was a fully formed Aqatic man.

So you see how shellless eggs (cells) evolved into creatures that eventually laid another form of eggs (with shell) called chicken eggs. grin
