We need something like 60000-80000MW before we can say we have solved our electricity power problems.(One expert even stated in an interview with ThisDay that we need 160000MW!).

I think it is high time the GENCOS collaborated with the FG to take a loan to increase generating capacity. And we Nigerians ought to pay our bills.

HELLO--GET IT RIGHT--FASHOLA is not providing power-all the power plant were built before he came in as a minister by the previous administrations--it was even privatised- and Nigeria has well above 12000 MW power by installed capacity--the problem is availability of Gas on a continuous basis to run the plants,[2] Remitting on timely basis the amount due to the Gencos by the NBET-to help them meet their daily gas purchase and plans to invest more in power as was original stated in their purchase agreement---Nigeria has some completed power plant that was built by the last administration and are yet to be link to the national grid--Akwa Ibom state is running its own power plant [Ibom Power company-about 191 MW capacity plant with a provision to expand to 700mW-solely built by the state government and commissioned during Akpabio time another 540 Mw power ready and lying unused at ALCON -an aluminium smelting plant in Ikot Abasi--The smelting plant is not working again but the power plant is functioning--what is left is for the present government to follow the plans of the previous past administration which the agreement was signed to give them the licence to operate the power plant and link it to the national grid---what are they delaying it for--Fashola is short of knowledge and he cannot separates politics from what he can do to help nigeria to solve this power issue--they are still playing politics of APC and PDP--because they wants to take the Glory.

They are not lying. They are telling you the truth.(Power has improved where I live...though that is because the local DISCO diverts power to our area because we pay our bills more regular and better than others in their catchment area..wink wink.).

What they do not tell you is that even at 6000MW....the power will still not be enough for Nigeria.(We need something like 60000-80000MW...a lot of money in plain English....hence privatization in 2014).

Problem is

1.Increasing generation

2.Improving transmission.

I guess govt COULD join hands with the GENCOS and get a forex loan to build new power stations.

But for me now...the important business really is transmission. Our transmission system is old and needs replacement. That's the govt business since they control it fully.

Government should install more turbines at the same time, privatized them to boast power generation.

Nigeria needs 100,000 megawatts and to achieve that, more electricity generating turbines must be installed yearly both by the government and private sector

I must confess,power has been so stable in my area since December last year we have light at least 12hrs a day and it's even getting better and more stable everyday.Thanks to fashola,long live Cadillac,wailers won't like this pls go an use your lanterns instead

The APC led FG is still (40,000 - 4652.70) i.e. 35,347.3MW shy of the 2019 mark they promised in 2015 though.

Hopefully they'll get there in the remainder two years.
