If the Part time program is successfully stopped, the only alternative for those who can't go for full time courses will be the NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY (NOUN). It is a pet project of the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. There will be a massive rise in admission rate in this pet project.

From Gej to the ministers, senators, they are all products of full time studies and they have not been able to live up expectation of Nigerians. They are disgrace to Nigeria education.

University Commission suspends part-time programmes

The National Universities Commission (NUC) on Monday announced the suspension of all part-time programmes run by universities in the country.

The Executive Secretary of the commission, Julius Okojie, also announced the results of accreditation of courses run by the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

Prof Okojie said the commission wanted to streamline part-time programmes such that it would accommodate not more than 20 per cent of the students in universities and stop the establishment of satellite campuses.

The commission announced that 30 NOUN programmes have been granted accreditation.

Prof Okojie said four programmes- Cooperative Management, Entrepreneurship and Business Management, Agric Extension and Management and Hotel & Catering Management were granted full accreditation, 29 programmes were granted interim accreditation while Nursing Science was denied accreditation for failing to meet requirements.

Phones / Globacom Launches Glo Gista, New Tariff Plan by 365naijanews(m): 8:32am On Jun 26, 2012
LEADING telecommunication network, Globacom, has launched a new tariff plan, Glo Gista, which enables the network’s subscribers all over the country to talk more and spend less on calls whenever and wherever they wanted.

Announcing the new tariff plan at a press conference, on Monday, in Lagos, Globacom’s Director of Marketing, Mr Adeniyi Olukoya, said the product would radically change the way Nigerians used telephones and generally add value to life.

“With Glo Gista, Nigerians can now gist with loved ones and business associates without limit at 15 kobo per second after paying 50 kobo for the first minute of the first call for the day.

“This is the most competitive tariff plan without barrier in the Nigerian telecom industry,” Olukoya declared.

He said Glo Gista is for new and existing prepaid subscribers on the Glo network, adding that anybody who purchased a new prepaid Glo line would automatically be connected to Glo Gista and enjoy rock bottom rates while existing subscribers will dial *100*15*1 to migrate to the Glo Gista platform. He further disclosed that subscribers on the new tariff plan could also call five international destinations at N7.80 after the first minute at N15.

The countries include United States, United Kingdom, India, Canada and China.

Olukoya said subscribers on Glo Gista would also enjoy other benefits, including the current 200 per cent bonus recharge promo.

“We also have a variety of products that resonate with the people and promote happiness for the greatest number of the citizens of the country”, Mr Olukoya said.

He described Globacom as a people friendly company that regularly embarked on programmes and products, which redistributed wealth, increased happiness and transformed lives.

He urged subscribers to always make Globacom their preferred network and promised them improved quality service and products at all times.

Computers / A Must Read, Facebook Is Trying To Hijack Your Email Address. by 365naijanews(m): 7:55am On Jun 26, 2012
NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — If
you’re a Facebook user, you
have a @facebook.com email
address, whether you use it
or
not. Facebook is now
automatically posting those
addresses to users’ profiles
and
displaying them as the default
email address.
Cue the backlash. Facebook
told
CNNMoney the change has
been
rolling out for “a few weeks,”
but many users weren’t aware
of it until a spate of blog
posts
and news articles began
drawing attention to it on
Monday.
“Speaking of hating your
users.
Facebook forces everyone
onto
its email system. Really,
Facebook?! Really?!” tweeted
freelance tech journalist Ron
Miller.
Blogger Gervase Markham, one
of the first to draw attention
to the change, was scathing in
his comments on it.
“Facebook silently inserted
themselves into the path of
formerly-direct unencrypted
communications from people
who
want to email me. In other
contexts, this is known as a
Man In The Middle (MITM)
attack,” he wrote, referring
to
a tactic hackers use to
intercept electronic messages.
“What on earth do they think
they are playing at?”
Facebook (FB) seemed
surprised
by the reaction.
“We basically defaulted to
show
your Facebook address as we
rolled this out, just to keep it
consistent for everyone,” said
Meredith Chin, Facebook’s
manager of product
communications.
She repeated the word
“consistent” several times in
her attempt to explain
Facebook’s rationale for the
change.
It’s part of a relatively new
“Timeline” profile set-up
process
that lets users change their
privacy settings for each post
displayed on their Timeline
page.
The e-mail move “is similar to
that. It’s an additional visibility
setting,” she said.
Users can change the setting
and show whatever email
address they like, but by
default, the visible address will
be @facebook.com.
The change hasn’t hit all
accounts yet, but it will roll
out
eventually to all of Facebook’s
900 million users, Chin
confirmed.
That means many users will
start getting email messages
at
an @facebook.com account
they
might otherwise never use.
That’s the kind of change
Facebook users tend to get
very angry about when
they’re
not warned in advance — and
it’s something Facebook has a
bad habit of doing. The site is
notorious for its “mess up and
apologize” approach.
Chin couldn’t elaborate on why
Facebook didn’t communicate
the email change before it
happened.
“We as a company know we’re
always under a microscope,
but
sometimes there are certain
things…” Chin said, trailing off.
“Well, you plan for everything
to be as loud as possible. But
sometimes things come up that
we need to be better about.”
How to fix it: Users who
want to stop the
@facebook.com address from
showing up on their profiles
can
do so by editing their
“Contact
Info” sections.
You have two options for any
email addresses associated
with
your Facebook profile: “shown
on Timeline” or “hidden from
Timeline.” By default, Facebook
is setting your @facebook.com
address to be “shown on
Timeline” and hiding the rest.
To
change that, switch your
@facebook.com email address
to
be “hidden from Timeline,” and
set a different email to be
“shown on Timeline.”
Facebook may “write a post
about this, if there continues
to
be some confusion around it,”
Chin said.
But an after-the-fact blog
post
probably won’t calm angry
users, and it certainly won’t
staunch the ink that’s been
devoted to Facebook’s move —
or the philosophy behind it.
Many articles characterized
the
change as a ham-fisted way
for
Facebook to push its email
system, which it first
announced
in in late 2010. At that time
the company said its goal was
to integrate conversations
across multiple channels of
communication — text
messages,
Facebook chat, email, etc.
Forbes summed up the
conventional wisdom on
Monday
with a simple headline on its
post: “Facebook’s Lame
Attempt
To Force Its Email Service On
You.”
Facebook, of course, doesn’t
agree with that assessment.
“I’m seeing this whole meme
around the idea that it’s us
pushing for people only to use
facebook.com addresses,” Chin
said. “That was not our
intention. We want people to
use whatever’s easier for
them.”

The faithful Dog
This dog was so faithful that d
woman could
leave her baby with it & go out
to attend
other matters. -She always
returned to find d
child soundly
asleep with d dog faithfully
watching over him..
-One day something tragic
happened. -The woman as usual,
left d
baby in d "hands" of this faithful
dog & went out shopping.
When she
returned, she
discovered rather a nasty
scene, there was a total mess.
-The baby's cot was dismantled;
his nappies & clothes torn to
shreds with
bloodstains all over d bedroom
where she left the child & d
dog. -Shocked, the woman
wailed as
she began looking for the baby.
-Presently, she saw the faithful
dog emerging from under d bed.
-It was covered with blood and
licking its mouth as it had just
finished ·theWOMAN POUNCED
ON D DOG N KILD HIM.
-Then AFTA D WOMAN STARTS
LOKIN 4D REMAINS OF HER BABY
SUPRISINLY SHE SAW D BABY
LYING Unda d bed alslip.though
wit bare skin
reality hit d woman who now
began to understand what
took place in her absence.
-the dog fought to protect the
baby from the ravenous jackal.
- It was too late for her now
to
make amends because in her
impatience and anger, she had
killed the faithful dog.
-A dog deserving praise &
adoration,that fought to save d
life of her dear beloved child
received death in return 2

with harsh words and deeds
before we
have had time to

Foreign Affairs / Former Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak Sentenced To Life Imprisonment by 365naijanews(m): 10:09am On Jun 02, 2012
BREAKING NEWS BREAKING NEWS...
Former President Hosni Mubarak
has been sentenced to life in
prison for ordering a crackdown
on those protesting his rule.
Almost 900 people were killed
when security forces attempted
to put down the uprising.
Former Egyptian President Hosni
Mubarak has been sentenced to
life in prison in connection with
the killings of about 850
protesters during an 18-day
uprising against his rule early
last year.
The court found Mubarak guilty
of abuse of office and that he
had ordered the killings, which
occurred during a crackdown on
dissent that came in the early
days of the uprising.
The 84-year-old former
president, who is in ill health,
had arrived at the court at the
police academy on the outskirts
of Cairo by helicopter. He was
wheeled into the courtroom on
a stretcher.
Mubarak was put on trial along
with his two sons, Alaa and
Gamal, as well as former Interior
Minister Habib al-Adli and
prominent businessman Hussein
Salem. Six senior police officers
were also on trial, including four
of Adli's former deputies.
Security has been tight
throughout the 10-month-long
trial. On Saturday, hundreds of
police officers in riot gear
surrounded the police academy.
Mubarak is the first-ever
former leader in the history of
Egypt to be put on trial.

Politics / What Is Your View On President Changing UNILAG To Mko University . by 365naijanews(m): 10:48pm On Jun 01, 2012
May 29 is known as a day set aside to celebrate our democracy day. And on that day the GCFR is to address the nation was a great day in nigeria about the country achievement so far.
The result turned different when mr president jonathan made the decalaration that the unilag would now be called mko university. This was a way to honour mko who fought for democracy. From that moment on till now the student are protesting here and there. What is you view on the idea that mr president has taken to immortize mko . Would you say he has done well. Drop your comment and suggestion here.
