KIDNAPPERS on Saturday seized a 29-year-old aide of the Secretary to the Niger State Government, Dr. Yahaya Kuta, Mr. Mustapha Muhammed, from his residence in Bosso area of Minna and murdered him.

Muhammed, who completed his mandatory National Youth Service Corps programme with the Niger State Government last year, was retained in the state’s civil service following his outstanding performance as an information communication technologist.

He was attached to the office of the SSG as a special assistant on Information Communication Technology.

About 24 hours after he was kidnapped, Muhammed’s corpse was on Sunday found in an uncompleted building in NIPOST Quarters in Minna.

Speaking in an interview with our correspondent, the SSG described the incident as “very unfortunate and saddening.”

He said the deceased was a brilliant and hardworking young man who had a lot to offer towards the development of the society.

He said, “When the news of his abduction came to our notice, we thought it was like the other cases of kidnap where the kidnappers would demand a ransom. We informed the security agents and efforts were being made on how to trace him.”

Muhammed, who hailed from Plateau State, was buried in Minna on Sunday.

The state government sent a delegation led by the Permanent Secretary (Political) in the office of the SSG, Alhaji Abbas Bello, to Jos to commiserate with the deceased’s family members.

I do not know of any kidnap victim that has been killed by the kidnappers in the south east. This is double trouble: kidnap and murder.

There were no ransom demands, so it's probably just a murder case.
