Ex-Head of State General Yakubu Gowon mistakenly pronounced dead .

Some Nigerians who did not read properly have mistaken a report on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) as that of the death of ex-Head of State, Yakubu Gowon.

This death announcement, as confirmed by NAIJ.com, was that of Martha Kande Audu, the first northern female voice on Radio/TV Kaduna and sister to General Gowon. She was said to have died at 79.

NTA had a report scrolling during a live show on television where the demise of the former Nigerian leader's was announced.
