It may be true that the Nigerian Music industry really favors the male artistes over their female counterparts.

However, over the years, female artistes such as Yemi Alade, Seyi Shay, Tiwa Savage and Cynthia Morgan have managed to ‘rub shoulders’ with the male artistes in the quest for dominance.

The following female artistes are ticked to blow our minds away this 2017.

1. Temmie Owvasa



Popularly referred to as YBNL princess. The star singer whose jams Jabole and Afefe blew our minds away is a ticking bomb that is about to explode.

While many question her choice to sign for YBNL due to her style of music, Temmie’s versatility in merging her style and that of the traditional YBNL’s might be her stepping stone to greatness.

2.Coco Ice



Having over emphasized her status as a rapper in the #BBNaija house and failing to really convince Nigerians about her profession, Mojisola Sarah’s early eviction may serve as a blessing in disguise as we look forward to the release of her single. Whether our dear Coco ice can rap or not, one thing remains clear, Nigerians are yearning to find out.

3.Okal



Sometimes, they say big things come in small packages. This UNIBEN undergraduate has grown in the space of a year from making instagram vines to recording beautiful music.

Starting from Without You, Pana Refix and Million Dollar Something . Characterized with a unique deep and melodious voice coupled with a high range/pitch and smooth vocal dexterity, young Okal will definitely cause older female artistes in the game to be on their toes.



4.Toby Grey



One cannot resist the urge to add our sweet Toby Grey on this list. Having been around for a while now, treating us to captivating melodies such as Love Dosage, Omolope, MMM etc.

One can say it is just a matter of time our miss Toby will become an A list musician. Apart from her God given talent, she seems to be very consistent with her music and won’t leave it for anything except the NYSC scheme…lol


5.Mz Kiss



In an industry where female artistes are identified with the RNB Genre, Mz Kiss has defiled all odds to take to the streets. Not only has she taken to the streets, the streets have also declared their love for her.

With the departure of Chidinma from the record label ‘Capital Hill’, Mz Kiss has become the female frontier of the label thus gaining more ground on the road to stardom.
