Anambra empowers disabled NDE graduates

Fifty physically challenged persons trained under the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) skills acquisition scheme, have received settlement packages from the Anambra State government.

Governor Peter Obi distributed sowing and welding machines, vulcanising equipment, panel beating and electrical installation kits to the beneficiaries.

Other materials included auto-mechanic kits, bead making materials, shoe making kits, soap making materials, hair dressing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners and knitting machines.

Obi said his administration would continue to empower the physically- challenged persons and carry them along in government’s economic programmes to develop their potentials.

The governor disclosed that within the next two weeks, government would launch an aggressive faithbased micro credit scheme to empower the less-privileged, adding that his administration, through the various ministries, had continued to create employment and empowerment for the youth.

He said government would continue to work closely with NDE in line with the policy of keeping all sectors going in spite of the global meltdown and expressed satisfaction that the state was meeting its responsibilities without recourse to loan.

The Director-General of NDE, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed, represented by the Director, Vocational Skill Development, Mr. Ngozi Okagbue, expressed gratitude to Governor Obi, for collaborating with the directorate in empowering the people and providing the enabling environment for its programmes to thrive.

This is an excellent idea, and i hope that the people that has been empowered will remained empowered, cos the govt has done his part.
Now the people needs to find a way to build up clientèle

It's a pity Nigeria as a nation do not extend a helping hand towards the disabled. In a country where people struggle 20 times harder than normal human beings in other nations, how will the disabled survive there?
