Well, for example, there are many medical doctors who do part time programmes. One would have thought that with all the business being a doctor entails, they get time?

And it is a part time programme. He does not even need to be physically at the place to do studies. He may probably be ther for one month out of twelve.

Here is the training programme for El Rufai's Phd course

GPAC² training programme structure

The training programme consists of the following main elements:

Year one: a basic training programme in year one of the programme, provided in Maastricht. This basic training programme consists of three visiting periods of two weeks each. Course modules are compulsory for all fellows and will be assessed by the tutors. Basic courses are obligatory for all participants, specialisation courses allow for a personal choice.

All subsequent years: Two workshops of one week per year, jointly with all higher year GPAC² cohorts at the School. The workshop programme includes fellow presentations, with reviewer discussions, progress meetings, skills workshops, seminars and master classes.

Voluntary participation in online course modules, offered with tutor assistance in for instance governance and political science, statistics, mathematics, economics, impact evaluation, social protection, human development, migration, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Personal supervision and monitoring during the entire programme, in year one by staff members of the School and the partner institutes and in subsequent years by an individually selected supervisory team.

And which in addition has a deputy governor, LG chairmen, councillors, etc...who could help solve the crisis.

After all, during the 2000 crisis, the then state governor was away on medical leave. His deputy was in charge..and did a good job handling the intital response.

Plus...Kaduna's issues have a lot to do with tribalisim, religious bigotry, etc...and it is going to take more than a governor to solve the issue.

Yes, because in the 1970's, Gowon took over many mission schools, and as a result, Kaduna state has to run too many schools with limitied money. And corruption chops much of it sadly.(Which is why I back all anti-corruptuon fights of all governments from Obj onwards. Forget political persecution...most of those people are theives).

Of course...ElRufai could hand over the mission schools like Queen Amina College, Science School Kufena, and GGSS Kwoi back to their old owners...who would increase fees to cover costs...and which would lead to protests. Or he could raise taxes...which could lead to protests. Or he could raise school fees, which would lead to protests. Or he could even build more new schools...which would then increase the running costs for the educaiton ministry in the state. And who is going to train the teachers needed? Are teachers willing to go teach in the rural areas? You see the problem?

Salary of a govenror: N2.2 million per month.($7000)...and yes, it is outrageous.
Fees at El Rufai's school : 8000 euros in yr 1, 6000euros in year 2.($8602 per annum....then $6402 per annum)
El Rufai does not need to loot to do his course. He can pay for it from his salary!

One minute we are blasting PMB for lacking certificate...the next minute, we are blasting governor for trying to get a certificate.

And OBJ did register for a postgrad project in CRK in NOUN when he was president!

Anyway....he is spending six weeks out of a year in the Netherlands...and even just for year 1.....

Well, I am defending his decision to go to university (not his style of governance...mind) and I passed my JAMB at first attempt, without cheating thank you very much. (I did not even know there was expo, until two days after the exam...lol!)

Some of you people should stop blasting our leaders for the sake of it. One thing I learned from GEJ's attempt from removing fuel subsidy in 2012...which failed because Nigerians were not wise enough to see the benefits...and after how deregulation worked so well for GSM...is that sometimes, even the leaders we blast do the right thing..and they must be hailed for it, sentiments aside. And El -rUFAI HAS done a lot of wrong things . Going on this course is not one of them.

dainformant:
The Kaduna state governor, Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai, has gone back to school as a part-time PhD student of philosophy in governance and policy analysis at the United Nations University-Merit, Netherlands. There had been wide speculations especially on various social media platforms that el-Rufai was flown abroad for medical attention.

UNU-MERIT, a research and training institute of the United Nations University and Maastricht University, based in the South of the Netherlands, has been closely involved in research for a variety of UN agencies.

The institution ranked sixth among the world best universities.

Good evening

I would like to inform you that

1.No one paid me for this post

2.Your bitterness is showing too much and making you look very young.

3.You have not refuted my points with actual points, instead you stoop to insults.

4.As I said , I defend the governor's decision to get more education, and as it is part time, and he will be spending just six weeks in the classroom in one year...and one week in subsequent years...then I doubt that he would lose time ruling his state.

5....and this is the most important.

I did not insult you, and I did not ask you to insult me. Yet, because you feel empowered by the fact that the internet allows you to insult others without any reprecussions, you go ahead and do so.

I wonder how people like you can go home and call yourselves Christians or good Muslims or pagans or whatever...if all you do is hide behind the cloak of the anonymous to do bad things.

Anyway, I wish you well. Have a happy day of the week. Goodnight. May your passage to Vahalla when it comes be peaceful.

Now, so many are calling him names:"religious bigot, bloody northerner", e.t.c and promising never to vote for him peradventure he comes out.Hmm, what surprises me is how Nigerians boast a lot, but stil end up being EASILY deceived to vote those politicians when they need them.We always regret our actions bt stil repeat same because our emotns cn easily be toyed with & manipulated! Those politicians are fetish.

Oh please, how on earth is this the right time for a sitting governor who has enough on his plate in his state to be carrying out his PhD. To add salt to injury, he decides to run the programme in Netherlands.
It is wrong and we shouldn't deny this..

It's wrong on all levels. If he had the intention to go for his PhD it would've been a great opportunity to improve ABU to higher standard and get the PhD there to set a good standard and example.

To the two people who sometimes forget that this is just a website, not a life changing decision.

The other day, a guy sat down , reviewing his internet activity, and wondered about how to make it better. He noticed that he was yelling too much and shouting too much at other people, and getting misreable to boot. And he also knew that some of his friends and colleagues visited the same site as he did, andhe worried that he would abuse them inadvertedly too.

So he made a decision. He would follow the rule of do unto others as others would do unto him.

So far he has been, in his own opinion, largely sucessful.

I should know, because I am that guy, and I am writing to you, my lucky brethren of the web.

You see, when we come online and comment about stuff, we tend to forget ourselves, and say things that in public we would regret saying. Now, one of you in your response to a lengthly post I made (which was not originally made in response to you, but to someone else, with whom I was able to have a good discussion in peace with) called me a paid agent.

Now that is not the truth. I do not get paid for any post I make here, and that includes the ones I make on my major passion. But in your anger, in your forgetfullness that this is a website...not life...you lied against me, and bore false witness. Something you would not do in real life.

And the other chap responded to another post of mine by using language he would not have used against his own mother, or his senior in real life. But, you called my post a piece of human waste because you forgot that this is just a website. Not life.

And that is what I really want to leave you with. This is just a website. It is not your life. In the years to come, no one would remember what you said, or how you said it. No one would recall what I said or how I said it....some ten, twenty, fifty years from now.

OK...scratch that. Some archaelogist found some graffiti in Rome where some unknown man...let's call him Celsus...insults another guy...let's call him Lucius. So...all we know Celsus the Roman for....centures after his death....is that he was a great insulter. Not a great creator, a great insulter.

Anyway.....even though this is just a website.....keep in mind that as you comment , you are creating stuff that generations may see much later. After all, one of my hobbies is looking for old websites...and yes, you can find websites that have vanished via the Wayback machine.

So, keep this in mind. Don;t insult. If you must respond, do so with well researched points. Don;t take every post you disagree with as a personal attack on you...that is petty, not wise, and don't say things that you would be ashamed of saying in public.

This is a website. It isn't life.

And with that, I bid you adieu.

A couple of months ago I decided to check out the people and institutions Nigerian elites are following on twitter. The people you follow would give an idea of how deep you are. Three individuals stand out for me and El-Rufai is one of them. I think it`s relevant to point out that, he is the only one that follows Nairaland among those three

Assemble 10 top leaders and you would quickly realise that the paths of each and every one of them is different. It would have been nice if all of them had finished with the world before starting with Nigeria, but that is not always the case. It was revealed a couple of weeks ago that the Netherlands is now the second most fluent user of the English language after the UK, I know that used to be Sweden

El-Rufai knows about London and America before so what he has read online about the Netherlands may have contributed to his decision. If he is looking forward to re-election then he would still have time to put what he is learning into practice. A country is only as good as the leaders that govern and their degree of exposure. Merely living in the Netherlands is very educative. It introduces you to another leadership model.

While in Holland, if it`s legally possible, he should go to their employment agency and register for work. Go to the estate agents and look for accommodation: cycle a bike to and from school and see how safe it is and why. Go and watch ADO DEN HAAG and see how much it costs. Of course, the school would arrange for sight-seeing, but it`s better solo

Good luck!
