A teacher on Wednesday was charged with assaulting her nursery pupil, forcing him to undergo circumcision.

Ekira Njeri Ngamau is accused of inflicting serious injury on the boy's genitals between February 17 and 24 at Mataara Primary School, Gatundu North constituency

She denied the charge before Gatundu senior principal magistrate L M Wachira. Ngamau was released on Sh20,000 bond or Sh10,000 bail.

A report by a private doctor in Thika who treated the boy indicated he must have been pinched or hit on the penis and a vein on his right testicle.

The pinching of the veins and arteries supplying blood to the testes deprived it oxygen causing it to swell.

"The circumcision must have been as a result of the teacher hitting or pinching the boy's penis since the twisting of the testes could not have affected the condition of the penis," said the doctor, who asked to remain anonymous.

The boy's teacher was arrested on Tuesday night and arraigned at Gatundu law courts on Wednesday.

The case will be heard on May 16.
