Naijahelm: and yet some people will be shouting marginalisation, see what Rivers, delta, akwa ibom, edo are getting. Stop blaming FG and hold your leaders accountable. Believe me, if it is borno, kano, kaduna, sokoto were the states to collect this, they wud have being ranting up and down. |

Through proper planning, these monies (in each state) could be tied to a major turnkey project to impact on a particular economical, infrastructural or social areas. In Lagos for instance, I will be very glad if the money is budgeted towards improving the environment. Cleaning and construction of drainage, canals and removal of nylons and PET bottles from all from all channels. This will engage people and also impact on the physical well being of both the people and the environment. |

Empredboy: The same useless excuse. Does state fund police or embassies. The truth is how many embassies does the FG truly fund? Most of them fund themselves from visa fees now. All the states and Abuja collect only 26% of our federation account while FG alone collects 54%! Which is more than double what states collect combined! Yet, I doubt there is any state not building roads, funding secondary schools and universities in many states, building bridges, rural electrification, agriculture , hospitals etc. The FG has less number of civil servants compared to all the states figure combined. Therefore, FG should be able to at least match the developmental stride of states with less than half of what they allocate to themselves. Can you say the FG has more developmental project than all the states combined? 99% of developmental projects about Nigeria here un NL or skyscrapers or other websites are built by respective state governments with less than half what FG gives itself. Imagine where Nigeria will be developmentally if the states got 54% and FG 26%? Although some state goverments are corrupt but when compared to the amount of corruption at the FG level, state governments are corruption free saints. 1 Like |
