Jobs Creation for Women: His Excellency Kashim Shettima Commissions Tailoring and Fashion Design Plaza

Governor Kashim Shettima on Monday commissioned a Government built Tailoring and Fashion Design Plaza with 116 shops accompanied with sewing machines for use by three hundred women who include dozens recently trained by an Abuja based Vodi tailoring and Fashion Design Institute on the sponsorship of Borno Government.

The Plaza is located in Lamisula, a densely populated area in Maiduguri. Shops, comprising 60 single and 28 doubles, were allocated to groups of the trained women while sewing and knitting machines were presented to them to enable them start their businesses. Governor Shettima directed that payment of one year rent be waved for the women while they are to pay subsequent rents at subsidized rates of N20,000 per annum.

Some starters recently trained were given cash of N50,000 for logistics in addition to being given sewing and knitting machines. ‎The Governor called on the women to make good use of the Plaza to be self employed and become major supplies of clothes for buyers.

The Plaza has changed the face of its location, hitherto called Lamisula Bola, which was an eye sore and constituted great nuisance and health hazards to the entire community.

Government made deliberate effort to site developmental projects to change the place, Governor Shettima said. He noted that schools, projects, houses, business outfits, hospitals springing up in the nooks and crannies of Maiduguri will soon be commissioned.

The Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation and Youth Empowerment, Hajiya Inna Galadima observed that skills acquisition is critical to any empowerment programme, hence the State Government has given attention to it, and over the years, thousands of youths were trained in various skills through collaboration with different organisations.

Ab Isong, a lead Pastor of The Citadel in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, shared this sad story on Facebook.

The woman identified as Felicia was brought to Young Shall Grow in Lagos by her husband, who he claimed was well aware that she was sick. She slumped and died shortly after the vehicle arrived Itam Park, Uyo on Thursday morning, April 27.

[b]DEAD ON ARRIVAL:
Somehow i wanted to overlook this story, but it boils down to marrying a wrong man hence this post.
Earlier today (thursday 6.pm precisely), I went to Itam Park long distance bus terminus where i was expecting a parcel from Lagos.
On arrival I saw an unusual crowd and I decided to get close. Only to find this woman dead and laid beside the young shall grow bus which transported her to Uyo.
I was privileged to ask a co-passenger who boarded same vehicle with her from Lagos to Uyo.
She said the woman's husband brought her to the park alive to board the vehicle. And that He knew the woman wasn't very strong while embarking on the long journey. And had made arrangement with a pastor here in Uyo to pick her and commence prayers.
The woman arrived Uyo alive, stepped out of the vehicle, asked for her luggage to be given to her which the driver obliged. Seeing she was weak, they offered her a chair to sit while waiting for pick-up.. the next thing she fell off the chair and that was the end of her life here on earth.
Minutes later, The Pastor came but was told from a distance that the lady he just spoke with on phone is dead. The man took off and disappeared.
Everyone deserted her but the good Samaritan in me came alive and I decided not to leave her there just like others did. I had to put a call across to the Nigerian Police and they responded swiftly. they came to the scene but my joy was complete when a woman came around and identified the lady as Felicia.. she wept and said Edoh Eke Wod meaning (they married her to kill her)... she has been taken to the mortuary by the Nigerian Police.
But my trouble is, Why will a man allow his wife travel such a long distance alone knowing too well she was sick?
Did he ever love that woman?
Did he know the woman won't survive and decided to send her back to her state for death?
Why didn't he take her to the hospital for treatment?
Oh Lord! help us... My wife is still weeping.
I'm happy i did my best.
Woman I don't know you, But may God bless your soul.
Rest In Peace.

Former Anambra Council Chairmen have written an angry letter to Governor Willie Obiano voicing their objection to the poor handling of local government funds/development affairs as well as deliberate attempts to sideline them.
The letter addressed to the Governor and copied to Chief Victor Umeh, Ozo Victor Oye, Speaker,Anambra State House of Assembly, the Obi of Onitsha among others, brings to the fore boiling issue that could detail Obiano's second term bid.

The letter dated April 25, 2017 was signed by the ex chairmen of the 21 local govt areas of the state under the umbrella body of Forum of Ex Local Govt Chairmen (2014-2016).
According to the letter, the elected former local government chairmen gave Gov Obiano a 14 day ultimatum to pay their take home package amounting to about N21 million to each of the immediate past LG chairmen or they will use all media and legal ventures to force him to do so.
In a 4 page letter, the ex LGA chairmen exposed how Obiano seized all the FAAC allocations belonging to local governments and squandered them. They also accused Obiano of intimidation while in Office as well as frequently accusing them of being 'Peter Obi or Victor Umeh boys', thus, reminding them that he knew how their names were rigged and favoured during LG election.

The ex chairmen further claimed that the over N70 billion Local Government funds was diverted by Gov Obiano.
They went ahead to lament how Obiano made them politically useless while in Office as they were not involved in political decisions even in the party neither were they allowed to do any project in their LG.

Apart from the FAAC allocations, the letter went further to expose other local govt funds gov Obiano diverted as;
1. Sure-P fund for rural poverty alleviation.
2. Local govt IGR
3. FG intervention funds for LGs.
4. Excess crude oil fund
5. Ecological fund
6. Funds from Donor Agencies
7. Funds for MDGs.
They therefore lamented that they were not appreciated despite their loyalty to APGA govt and vowed to fight for their right.
Recall that over 317 councillors took the gov to court on similar accusation. The govt is owning each councillor over 9 million naira and only managed to pay them 640,000 each late last year.

The exposure by the elected ex local govt chairmen is enough for EFCC to commence investigations on the alleged fraud at the local councils.
The ex chairmen have equally threatened to make public all the documents that will nail gov Obiano in due course.

Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Gburugburu) is busy enjoying his government and have refused to make any drastic move to condemn the marginalization of Igbo's, to him its important to fend off opposition Party especially now that his predisuccesor has joined APC.

Our own Emperor Rochas Okorocha (Onyenweanyi) who claims to be the Leader of Igbo Nation couldn't even do anything tangible when the Hausa group killed the woman from Mbaitoli last two years, rather his main interest is how to install his in-law as successor.

The question remains who is ready to make this move for Biafra?

The people who know how to attack on Facebook than to organize a protest at Aso Rock.

The Leaders in South-South who are not even interested in the issue because they have enough oil to bargain or trade with?

A man believed to be a professor at the Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, Ebonyi State and a pregnant woman are among seven people that died in a multiple motor accident at the Ezzamgbo axis of the ever-busy Abakaliki-Enugu expressway on Thursday evening.
All the victims gave up the ghost on the spot and their bodies were evacuated and taken to FETHA II, Abakaliki.

The accident was said to have been caused by poor visibility arising from the over four-hour heavy down pour in Ebonyi State on Thursday evening.
An eyewitness said that a trailer and a Toyota Camry from opposite directions had a head-on collision resulting in partial blockage of the road. This lead to the death of the said professor and his driver on the spot.
A young man said to be the professor’s son and a woman whose identity could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report were said to have survived the accident but with life threatening injuries.
It was gathered that while sympathizers were racing to the scene, a Hyundai i carrying five passengers rammed into the trailer killing all the occupants.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety who arrived the scene of the accident immediately blocked the other part of the road and evacuated the dead bodies.
As of 6am on Friday, the road safety officials and the Chairman of the Ebonyi State Emergency Management Agency, Evangelist Ephraim Ononye were seen pulling the Hyundai i and the white Camry with registration number FUNAI 51-D26-FG off the road.

Senator Adeola Denies Ownership of Discovered Billions In Osborne Tower - Senator Solomon Adeola, representing Lagos West Senatorial District, on Wednesday expressed denied alleging his ownership of N15 billion in foreign and local currencies discovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) in an apartment at Osborne Towers in Lagos.

An online news platform has alleged Senator Adeola to have stashed the huge cash in anticipation of using the money to finance his gubernatorial ambition in one the states of the South West.

But in a press statement, signed by the Media Adviser to the Senator, Chief Kayode Odunaro, he escribed the media report as “absolute lies”and calculated blackmail to dent the image of the lawmaker.

“We are aware that the satanic report is a conscious antics by some politicians, who are have been having sleepless nights in the rising profile of Senator Adeola, and his impeccable records as a grassroots democrat.

“These elements are hell bent to eliminate him in their paranoid political equation towards 2019.

Senator Adeola said he will not hesitate to take legal action against anyone unjustly tarnishing his hard earned reputation and image pursuant of his fundamental rights under the constitution.

On the 03/04/2017, one mr. Ben Kpaduwa of Umudo Anara, Isiala Mbano local government area, Imo state. Was kidnapped at his country home Anara town, Isiala mbano, by unidentified armed men. Operatives of the Anti -Kidnapping unit of the Imo state command swiftly pursued the hoodlums to Ikpa Okorie in Ndibechukwu Aro Ndizuogu in Onuimo L. G. A, but they escaped deep into the forest. The house of one of the gang members one Chukwuemeka Obidike aka "Onye Anamaraekwe " was condoned and searched and the above exhibits arms and ammunitions were recovered. One Ugonma Okpara who claimed to be wife of the kidnap gang was arrested for interrogation. In furtherance of police operations on 04/04/2017, the kidnap gang was traced to Ndiawa Aro Ndizuogu in Ideato North L. G. A, where they engaged the police in a shoot out. One mr. chinedu Imo of Ndiawa Aro Ndizuogu Ideato North L. G. A, suspected to be a gang member sustained injuries while one Emmanuel Chika Ihemena was arrested with victim's black Toyota Corolla car.

The victim, Mr. Ben Kpaduwa was rescued on 04/04/2017.
The injured gang member, chinedu Imo was taken to the hospital for treatment where he was confirmed dead.
As an investigative journalist. This information was disclosed today, during the inaugural press briefing by Cp Chris Okey Ezike commissioner of police. Imo state command.

The multi billion dollar project is for the development, under a Build, Operate, Manage & Transfer (BOMT) arrangement of an Airport City (Aerotropolis). The airport will be sited at Umueri, Anambra East LGA of Anambra State and will be an International Cargo Airport and will have an aviation fuel dump where aircrafts will fly in to refuel.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony by His Excellency, Chief Willie M. Obiano, the Executive Governor of Anambra State for the Construction of Anambra Airport City Project between Anambra State Government, Orient Petroleum Resources Plc. and Elite International Investment Holding Limited, China Aviation Planning & Development Company Limited with Osike Synergy Nigeria Limited and Emsworth Oil & Gas Limited as Facilitators.

Other airport city projects include but not limited to two runways, Passenger and VIP Terminal, Taxiways and Aprons, Fire Station, Control Building and Towers, Aviation Fuel dump and dispensing facilities, airport cargo sheds, aircraft maintenance hanger, five star airport hotel and conference center, aviation training and services buildings, airport multilevel car parks, airport recreational areas, international mega shopping mall, luxury retail shopping, China wholesale depots, emergency service centers, industrial business park.

The project will create a whole new world of economic opportunities for the South-East, and will unleash the untapped potential of increased trade and commercials , manufacturing, innovation, technology transfer, SME growth and IGR revenue explosion to Anambra State.

Importantly, it will be a huge job creating avenue for Ndi Anambra.
