according to YEN.com.gh eight teachers who were served with queries for choosing to prepare fufu during school hours, to the neglect of their teaching duties, have apologized for their irresponsibility.

The issue became a matter of public scrutiny after it was revealed that eight teachers of the Amanhia M/A Basic School had abandoned their various classes in a bid to enjoy the local delicacy.

The teachers were subsequently queried by the Akuapim North Municipal Director of Education, Grace Owusua Addo, for relegating their teaching duties.

However, it has now been disclosed that the teachers have rendered an unqualified apology for their actions.

According to the Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Asiedu Acheampong, the eight teachers have also signed an undertaken to ensure the act is never repeated.

“It is indeed true the said teachers were queried, they are 8 in number and they have written officially to apologize for pounding fufu during school hours, they have also written undertaken to that effect,” Asiedu Acheampong told Citi News.

“I believe going forward we will all know that we are guided by rules; so this act will serve as a deterrent for other teachers who in future want to also pound fufu in school.”

It is still unknown whether the eight teachers will be further sanctioned or not.
