Thanks for your expose into the discourse, many of us fail to realise some of these basics
1.if there is steady power would the outburst be like this
2
The company has base stations ,have we factored in the cost of running them (diesel is N250 per litre as against N150 last year Q1)
3.what role is government playing to allow and encourage new entrants into the market to break monopoly. ACTV comes to mind, the company just closed down last year
We need to as a matter of importance as Nigerians look at situations critically before coming up with solutions that really are not empirically thought through

I think the major role of the government is to set up a competition law. The European Union has millions of dollars waiting to be given to the competition commission that will take off. All that is required let the national assembly pass the bill and let the president assent. A lot of companies want to come and invest but they keep saying they want a competition law that will protect them from bigger companies and government as well. Period

so what happens when they refuse to do their job?

You bring another regulator who doesn't even have an idea of how it works Bring all stakeholders but the sector regulator must be present. They will always be Grey arrears they will clarify.

Just like the data companies were trying to increase price last year because the smaller companies-smile,spwctranet et all were not breaking even since the government was not protecting them from MTN ,GLO
its so unfortunate that issued like this competition bill is not even discussed in the public domain or social media to create enlightenment so that Nigerians should be able to lend their voiced to see the fruition of this bill, rather we will concentrate on irrelevant things-BB NAIJA comes to mind, if the hype on BB NAIJA is accorded this competition bill I dont see reasons why this bill would not be paaaee within 3-6 months time frame
The FDI we are seeking will be difficult to attract if we fail to play our basic roles as a nation
The senators need to be more abreast with global best businesses practises as investors ,(foreign) rarely put money where corruption. greed poor corporate governance thrive like "wildfire"

Bro u sabi am. Not all these people who don't know how it works but to come here and spew Rubbish. Do you know if the competition law was in place even NCC can be fined for supporting the increase In price of data if the increase cannot be justified? Or the competition agency can demand a further reduction from the current data price after proper investigation so people can get value for money. It will ensure that price of a commodity in sokoto is the same as in lagos or anywhere. Selling above the approved price is criminal and so many other stuffs. Many sector regulators are against the law

One thing I have come to realise as a people is that we cherish all these MBA certificates without understanding the need to get masters degree, which is to. Broaden ones knowledge and be able to atleast prefer solutions to some practical issues.
What I see these days is just people just have these certificate for the sake of it ,just to say I am an MBA HOLDER, people do not really understand how most ofif these business have been operating for the past two years under TG these unfavorable government policies (flip-flop)they barely break even considering the huge running cost .

The way forward is for government to be ready to tackle corruption headlong and create enabling environment for business to thrive,Nigeria as a country is a choice destination for willing investors due to the following advantages
1,population
2.Technooogy
3.good business knowledge
4.saleability
4.

These South African business are gutting Nigerians like cows and not held accountable!! Gotv too removed stations announced price increase and say we are fools we have no choice. Meanwhile in south Africa there are xenophobic attacks on Nigerians. pay per view should happen as it is done in south Africa period.

Yes it's their fault!

But it's never the fault of mTn and others when they migrate to per seconds billing if you were born then and of rightful age. Reasons! Acceptable international practice

As it's obtainable by international practice, so it should be in this part of country.
someone like me who has power 24/7 to watch his TV set would not have same problem as you.By teh way PAY is more expensive than monthly subscription, In teh west people are trying to run away from PYG Nigerians are advocating for PYG is that not moving bckward??

It wasn't Dogara's move. It was the deputy speaker who was on duty when the motion was moved.
