The term “world class” in football is a renowned title given to only a very few managers like Jose Mourinho, and players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. However, when it comes to players, there are too many who although are/were really great players in their respective clubs and leagues, they never attained the world-class standard(I won’t mention names now. that’ll be a post for another day).

In the EPL, there have been legends who graced the awesome game of football, from Arsenal’s Thierry Henry and Tony Adams, Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard and Robbie Fowler, to Manchester United’s Eric Cantona and Cristiano Ronaldo. But for this post, we will be looking at former Chelsea and current Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, and the world class players he ruined, or nearly ruined.

Andriy Shevchenko – One of the top 3 buys Jose Mourinho was ‘forced’ to make alongside Michael Ballack and Deco while a Chelsea manager, Andriy Shevchenko, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2004, was among the best strikers of his generation, only arguably bested by Thierry Henry. However, his move to Chelsea from AC Milan for £30m saw a serious dip in his form and world class ttitle. A disatrous time where Shevy scored only 9 goals in 48 appearances before moving back to Ukraine the following season.
