The following are the mangement practice for deep litter system-
*depth of litter material on the floor,for chicks should be about 7cm-15cm
*the litter should be forked or raked over periodically,to break up any litter clumping together.
*as so as there is an excess of dropping more litter should be added to an optimum of about 30cm
*the litter should alway be kept dry and friable(easily broken up) by the periodic raking or forking.
*a good litter should also be warm, dry and full of useful bacteria.
