Our Criminal Law Should Be Modified. by mekaboy(m): 11:06pm On Apr 11, 2017 |
Nigerians should not be treated like Americans where u kill someone and are sentenced to life in prison. They can afford to take care of people in prison. The level of crime is increasing now and those who commit these crimes no longer value human life. Our law should state that however you kill someone should be exactly the same way u will be killed as soon as the court finds you guilty. Any case involving murder should not exceed 2weeks in court before judgement is given. Things have become more difficult for most people since this Administration took over. Human life has no value anymore. Now looking at the murder of the jumia driver and that of the uber driver , you can see that crime has take a higher dimension. So if u kill someone with belt, your taken to court, and your kill publicly with belt. Maybe when people come and watch public execution and see the same they go through before death, others will think twice before they kill anyone. Prison should not be for murderers. What is this country turning to? |

What about in case of judgements where a person is sentenced for a crime he/she did not commit probably due to overwhelming evidence or circumstances, how do you rectify the unfair judgement if the person has already being killed?. |

This is not Saudi Arabia. Besides, it is your type that will defend the killers of a hapless igbo woman in Kano whom by the way are walking the streets free |

mekaboy: Not everyone convicted by a court is guilty. Go to kirikiri and see hundreds of innocent people languishing in jail. The criminal justice system is never perfect. Even in the US a good defense attorney can spring one of jail (see OJ Simpson). And even in that same US criminal convictions get upturned every year. |
