I laugh when people call nigeria a nation but what these people do not know is that nigeria is not a nation. What is nation? A nation is a geographical area where people with similar cultures, language live. Infact any thing that unite a people as one. A nation can be called a country but not all countries can be called a nation. Example of nations and coutries are: japan, south and north korea, poland, netherlands e.t.c Infact most european countries can be called nations. Why should i not call nigeria a nation? Nigeria cannot be called a nation because we are a country of 300 nations. We have three major ethnic groups who share almost equal an percentage and also hundreds of smaller ethnic group. No matter how you look at it we do not share anything in common. We are different in every aspect. As young as i am, i can easily differentiate an igbo from yoruba, hausa from yoruba, igbo from hausa by just looking at them. If you compare an ijesha and ijebu person you cant see any difference between them. Also oyo and ijesha people dont look different even though we speak different dialect.
