Most Nigerians swallow whatever is being pushed into their mouths without tasting to see if it is good or not. False reports are always welcomed and quickly transmitted to others convincingly without confirmation. This is why there is so much falsehood in the country.

A good example of this is the recent death rumour of our President, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, who spent about 50 days in London for treatment on an unknown ailment. Within a week of his departure, false alarms were raised about his death. Millions of Nigerians took it upon themselves to spread this fake news. Again without confirmation.

Peace Mass Transit (PMT) remains one of the biggest transportation company in Nigeria located on the southeast. It has about 3000 buses plying Nigerian roads daily, conveying a reported 25,000 persons from Monday to Sunday. For a transport firm that big, it's contribution to the nation's economy will also be huge.

As expected, PMT have lots of competitors who are mostly smaller transport firms and with less popularity and reputation. Various groups have put Peace Mass Transit and her drivers on what can be termed as media trial with the hope to cripple this popular business.

If properly investigated, don't be surprised if such reports emanates from competing transport firms who hope to lure PMT's passengers with false accidents reports and ritual report.

It is sad that as citizens we do not differentiate between true and false. To make it worse we try to exaggerate everything, especially bad news. So many media practitioners do not mind getting paid to mislead the public. This is why there are so many lies out there.

Social media keeps buzzing with trending topics. Anybody can easily send out a lie just to get numbers. Even supposed credible news sources have been compromised. And this is where the problem grows wings. In almost no time the gossip mills takes over. That's how Nigerian information works.

It is time we start questioning reports and demand for fair media coverage. There is no transport company in Nigeria that have escaped from accidents. Even some of our roads are death traps. Peace Mass Transit (PMT) is not the only transport firm to have been unfortunate a couple of times. But it is obvious some persons and groups are obviously behind these hate reports.

If PMT is as bad as claimed by detractors, one can only wonder why their parks nationwide, are always filled with passengers who prefer their services? Repeating a lie countlessly may colour it, but it does not make it true.

It is only fitting to encourage one of the country's leading transport company, instead of trying to kill it. Whenever any driver is caught driving carelessly, it is the right of passengers to call that driver to order, be it a Peace Mass Transit (PMT) driver, or any other transport firm.

Most of these company vehicles also have phone numbers passengers can use to report errant drivers who have little value for human life. This is the way to go, not by spreading lies, even the blatant ones.

I am not among those Saying anything against PMT because they've always been my best Transport company since over a decade. I travel with them because of comfort and affordability. Most people who talk against PMT have not travelled with the company at all,They just read sponsored smear campaign on social media
