The fear which gripped farmers at Ibusa, near Asaba, Delta State, over ritual killings in farms is yet to abate three months after a woman was murdered.

So far, five women were said to have been hacked to death with parts of their bodies removed by the assailants last year, although the police confirmed that two were killed.

Nigerian Tribune investigations revealed that those killed on their farms or on the roads to their farms were non-natives.

Many farmers were said to have abandoned their farms for many months for fear of being killed, while it was believed that some traditional farmers had relocated to their villages for the 2010 farming season.

It was also understood that those who dare to go to the farms were accompanied by some armed men.

Recently, the Nigerian Tribune gathered that youths of the town protested against the ritual killings when an indigene was murdered.
