A decision must be made before receiving or not receiving someone - just as a decision is made before believing or not believing something. And that decision is simple - to receive / believe or not to receive / believe.

Your decision to believe Jesus died for you, and to receive Him as your Lord and Savior is your irrevocable guarantee of forever being a child of God - not how many hours /days you fast and pray; not how much you give; not whether or not you speak in tongues; and certainly, not your 'righteous' works. All these things are good - spending time in prayer, studying the bible, giving to those in need etc. but they do not in any way determine your position as a child of God. Only one thing determines your position - whether or not you choose to Believe and Receive.
