The claim that President Umar Musa Yar"Adua spoke to some top government officials by phone from the Jeddah hospital where he has been receiving treatment has been described as a hoax by Aso Rock sources.The sources spoke to PM NEWS this morning.

In reports published this morning in Nigerian newspapers,Presidential Adviser,Taminu Yakubu,told reporters that his boss who has been incommunicado for the past 43 days spoke yesterday to the Vice-President,Dr Goodluck Jonathan,the Senate President,David Mark and Speaker of the House of Representative,Dimeji Bankole.

Sources within and outside Aso Rock told PM NEWS this morning that the chief economic adviser to the President was simply lying to Nigerians as he and other officials have consistently done since the President went for medical treatment in Saudi Arabia.

One of our sources categorically told us this morning that the President is not medically in a position to talk to anybody and challenged Yakubu to come up with more details of the so called telephone conversations.

"It is a lie.Even yesterday they circulated stories here in Abuja that the President has returned" said the source."It is a ploy to scare people from taking a decision that will get Nigerians out of this quagmire," he added.

Our source said the American authorities have it impossible to talk to the President since the embarassing failed terrorist plot carried out on christmas day by a Nigerian. "If Yar"Adua has been in good health as they claimed, why would a President of such an important country as America find ot impossible to talk to Yar"Adua?"the source claimed.

Writing about the the diasppearance of Yar"Adua and the consequences for the Nigerian nation,Huffington Post,an influential internet news portal wrote yesterday that "normally after such horrific incident,President Obama would be omn the phone with his counterpart,discussing what went wrong and agreeing on ways to work better in the future to prevent such attacks.But this could not happen because President Umaru Yar"Adua"s whereabouts are unknown.It is also not clear if he is alive or dead."

Efforts to talK to David Mark,the Senate President,Dimeji Bankole,Speaker of the House of Representatives and Vice President Goodluck Jonathan this morning were unsuccessful.But an aide to Bankole told PM NEWS that Bankole confirmed that he spoke with the President at about 8:15pm yesterday.And that the President simply wished Bankole a happy new year and through him sent new year compliments to other members of the house.

But our sources said the three high ranking officials are reluctant to disown the game unfolding in Abuja and that they may not want to deny talking the President.

Late last year,the two leaders of the National Assembly had contrived a crisis to deceive Nigerians about the inability of Yar"Adua to present the 2010 budget proposals to a joint sitting of the House.

"Bankole and Mark have both been less than forthright in their handling of the bizzare disappearance of Mr President", sid our source.

Attorney Greneral and Minister of Justice,Michael Aondoakaa has told Nigerians that President Yar"Adua could tule Nigeria from any part of the world.Late last year,Mr Taminu Yakubu in a shocking announcement said the President had appended his signature to the budget proposals in far away Jeddah.

Opposition parties,human rights groups and professional bodies such as the Nigerian Bar Association have come out to strongly debunk these claims while legal suit has been filed by human rights lawyer and activist,Mr Femi Falana,to ask the court to compel the President to appoint his deputy as acting President in his absence.Another suit has asked the court to declare Yar"Adua missing.
