Lagos lawyer and President, West African Bar Association (WABA) Femi Falana yesterday challenged the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to produce the medical report on the current health condition of President Umaru Yar’Adua.

He threw the challenge at the premises of the Federal High Court, Abuja where his case against the absence of Presdent Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua is being heard.

However, the case was billed for mention yesterday, he brought interrogatories pursuant to Order 43 Rule 2 of the Federal High Court wherein he raised seven fundamental questions.
Falana is asking for a proof that FEC based its decision that the president is capable of discharging the functions of his office on any medical report.

He also wants the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Aondoakaa, to answer if the president has signed the 2009 Supplementary Appropriation Bill.
Report that the President signed the bill on his hospital bed in King Faisal Hospital, Saudi Arabia is already generating issues. There are speculations that he did not sign the bill as reported.

Falana also wants the (AGF) to annex a signed copy of the bill, if the president actually did.
“Can you say categorically when the president will resume duties in his office,” he asked in another paragraph.
The defendant is required to answer the interrogatories, before the hearing of the case.
Aondoakaa maintained yesterday that the interrogatories, if not dropped, could introduce new dimension to the case. “I will prefer the matter is decided on its merit because I don’t want to spring surprises,” the AGF added.
