The PDP leadership tussle take centre stage at te supreme court again this morning after the last adjournment from march.


Summary of Today's Supreme Court Proceedings.

1. The Original panel headed by Justice Tanko which also has Justice Odili and others are no longer in charge of the Case. A new Panel of Supreme Court Justices have been constituted to go on with the matter.

2. The Motion brought before the court by Sheriff requesting the court to disqualify the CTC from appealing the judgement of the Appeal Court was heard and argued but the court has asked the counsels to submitted written arguments before the next date of hearing.

3. During cross examination, Sheriff counsel, Olujimi SAN could not substantiate the locus by which he filed the motion asking the court to disqualify the CTC. E.g."Is there an appeal before this court?" SHERIFF, YES, but PDP is not ready to appeal the judgement of Appeal Court.

Supreme Court:
Does the defendant at the lower court (Appeal Court) has the right of Appeal? Again Sheriff answered YES.

The appeal filed at the Supreme Court by Senator Ahmed Makarfi faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the chairmanship of the party will be heard at the apex court on today thursday may 4th

The Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee and Senator Ali Modu Sheriff who was declared authentic chairman of the party by an Appeal Court in Poty Harcourt have been in a battle to control the party.

A Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt had in a split decision, confirmed Senator Sheriff, as the authentic national chairman of the party.

Two out of the three judges of the court approved that Sheriff was the legitimate chairman of the PDP while the third judge disagreed and chose Makarfi as the authentic chairman of the party.

Not satisfied by that judgement, Senator Makarfi approached the apex court demanding a reversal of the Appeal Court judgement, which threw him out as PDP leader.

The outcome of the case at the Supreme Court many believe may decide the fate of the party, wether it will continue as a strong party or be decimated as some members of the party seem to be suggesting.

The Peoples Democratic Party need to bounce back. Nigeria is in limbo today because political jockers who knows nothing about governance are the ones running the country.
