Sorry Madame o.

But are you expecting us to actually send you 10k USD for a burail?
While you were busy enjoying your life and children abroad, how much have you remembered the fatherless and motherless children at home?
How many poor widows or kids has your husband helped while alive? Sorry if you helped people. But a lot of our rich people thinks tragedy is meant for the poor only. And they look down on and despise the needy thinking it can never get to them to experience such situations.

Madam come back home with whatever is left of your husbands wealth and build yourself and your children's here in Nigeria. It will be a good starting point. Don't burden the poor masses to foot your bill for such expensive lifestyle.

After escaping Nigeria wahala... God help us

Its so sad & obvious from this man'seeking history that he died of STRESS. Hmmm! The two options he had was either to flee or face the objects & causes of the stress but unfortunately his heart was overburdened & d only response was to shut down! Such is life! I hope his wife & kids get the help they need & remain ever faithful to him as he did sacrificed it all for them. Rest in peace dear; men like u are rare.

This is the reason we advise people get a travel health insurance cover. No one knows tomorrow. If they had a cover bringing the corpse back home will have been sorted.

I feel for her but at the same time i hope she is not there for visit ooo, i hope it is for stay.

It's not about being wise or not. That's about how much a normal, no frills, no extra burial costs in the US. From buying of the casket, to buying plot at the cemetery, to headstone costs, grave diggers and all. Google is your friend.

Mind you, it will cost waayy more to fly the corpse to a Nigeria.

Such a sad situation and I'm pretty sure the wife is here to have a child. May God help her and her family.

Times without number I have warned those willing to go to US to proper home work.
Perhaps the guy was working himself out on realising that the medical bill is not a joke; more so that none of the Family member has social security.
State of Maryland do not give discount on Child bearing hospital bill. It cost about $13,000 for hassles free normal delivery. Starting point of CS is $24,000!
Trust me you must pay all your bills.
Meanwhile, after delivery there are compulsory bill-tagged checks on the child which must be done within 3-5 days.
Remember throughout the period all the family member would eat and pay their bills.
Nothing is free in US except the air you breathe in.
Also, US is not Nigeria as you'll hardly fund someone to help because majority are struggling.
DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND FINDINGS WELL BEFORE YOU TRAVEL TO US.
RIP to the struggling guy.

That's why you have life insurance. It usually pays for the burial expenses. Those ones who don't have it, resort to donations. I still saw some at the traffic stop yesterday, carrying posters seeking money for the burial expenses for their grandfather.
U made valid points. And dats y I asked earlier;""so for EVERY one DAT dies in d US;EVERY family can afford and spends up to DAT amount ;for just burial.Even d less-privileged/low income earning ones?Deres absolutely nothing like "low-key"; or cutting down of budgets when it comes to burials over dia?Seriously dude?I don't think so..
Dey probably must be neckdeep in debt and some oda stuff which dey included;for people to contribute alongside;under d guise of " burial" appeal fund... And u are most likely a relative..
Well I wish u guys the best.

So sorry for them.
I guess it's more about citizenship because it looks like she was there for delivery. I know the Nigerian healthcare system is bad, but there are lots of wonderful hospitals in Nigeria _ you would think you're abroad.

RIP to the man. I wonder if he was sick or stressed...

embarassed this reminds me of the story of Moses in the bible, he took the children of Israel through the wilderness but couldn't enter the promised land.

this man toiled very hard to take his wife and kids to the promise land but couldn't stay to enjoy it, he's a great man and a good father who knows he might have foreseen his death I hope his sacrifices are not wasted

RIP great man you shall never be forgotten

Hmmm, you're right! So many people in the country are also stressed up. Just because we see them walking and sometimes chatting, we never know how depressed they are. angry

Your post is the best. The Keyword is Insurance. It solves all the problems but knowing America as well as I do, the Nigerian community will show up and help the wife and the kids out of their predicament. I have seen so many stuff like these in Chicago and our people always turn out to be of great assistance.

Were you there when he got the visa, why say you are very sure?
Be careful what you say with your mouth, the bible condemns bearing a false witness.

A good question in a way. Already answered by my friend above. That is one profitable industry. The funeral home is quite lucrative there. I was surprised when i realized it cost so much over there.

The state will take care of the body. They always have a plan.

Don't mind them, they think it's lawless Nigeria.

What they won't do is finance stupid culture stuff, they'll bury the guy unceremoniously.

Are you sure you are okay? Do you have blood running through your veins? Did you even read the post at all? I am surprised. This mentality of yours is that of a poor man, yes you read right, a poor man's mentality. You sound pained, you don't even know a thing about them, you are already here spilling bitter words. A man who obviously was on a vacation with his family or probably came for the birth of his third child in America, did he know he was going to die? Or Mr know all should she have planned money for funeral when she was going to the US? Show some respect for the dead and if you can't just shut up! No one is asking for your money, if you won't help her, those who would help her will gladly help her. He careful what you say because you don't know tomorrow!

Honestly, this why a woman should be financially independent. After the burial of her husband, she will still need to take care of herself, very well, since she is pregnant and also be prepared for the upcoming hospital bills, and of course the next 20 years or so, her cash has be on lock down for the child. I hope she is able to overcome this storm.

Yes automatic citizenship is good for our kids...

But we should make sure we are healthy (financially & physically) for such endeavors.

What i dislike a lot is not having the financial muscle and resorting to begging.

They obviously went to do childbirth, now they can't afford to ferry his corpse or bury him there.

RIP...at least he would be buried in the country of his dreams...he got "permanent stay" just not the one he dreamed of

thank u for the sensible statement, what is a poor person doing with a pregnant wife and 2 kids in America? must they go there to give birth? if u dont have extra N10m in ur account why take such stupid risk? am sure its the mental fatigue of this stupid decision that killed him. what nonsense? just for the hype u have a kid born in the US?

Thanks Chief. I have read of like 2 cases here on the US visa thread. One was multiple births, one was a complicated delivery. They were eventually stuck with a bill of over 150,000$ after planning to spend maximum 15,000.

How anyone struggling manage to pay 60 million naira for a delivery? The highest I have ever seen in Nigeria even if they want to extort you is 1 - 2 million Naira.
