presenting to you from extensive research, The five best governors that has ever ruled Nigerian states from 1999 till date.

In the fifth place is Godswill Akpabio (Governor of Akwa Ibom 1999-2015)

His infrastructural development in Akwa Ibom during his rein as a governor is second to none. he literally created new cities out of relatively rural town of Uyo Eket, etc. His legacies includes construction of several bridges, standard dual carriage road, airport, 30,000 capacity stadium, among others.

In the fourth place is Engr Rabiu Kwankwaso (Governor of Kano state 2007-2015)

Engr Rabiu Kwankwaso demystified the art of governance in Kano state by setting a standard that will be too tough for any of his successors to thread. his achievement cuts across infrastructural development, Education and human capital development. during his time as a governor he established two state own Universities, sponsored over two thousands indegens on oversea scholarship, established over forty technical schools among others. however, engr Rabiu is best known for his infrastructural development legacies which includes several interchange roads, overhead bridges, etc.

In the third place is Babatunde Fashola (Governor of Lagos state 2007-2015)

Babatunde Fashola is one of the most Astute and intelligent governors Nigeria had ever had. his charismatic disposition and organizational acumen came to bear when he started fine-tuning the vision of his predecessor to a daydream-reality. he gave lagos a face-lift, fortified the security apparatus of the state, changed the transportation terrain of the state by the completion and commissioning of the bus Rapid Transit (BRT) as well as the sand filling/reclamation of land from Atlantic Ocean and subsequent erection of structures for the latest bride-Eko Atlantis city. constructed several roads and bridges including an ongoing light rail project.

In the second place is Donald Duke (Governor of Cross Rivers state 1999-2007)

Before the legendary governor Donald Duke assumed office as governor in cross Rivers State, cross Rivers and calabar was relatively an average state and average state capital respectively. he came in with a poise to showcase the state to the world through tourism and infrastructural development. his outstanding tenacity and unstinting energy towards achieving those vision even with little resources culminated into what we hear and know about cross Rivers and Calabar today as the number one tourist destination in Nigeria. his legacies includes but not limited to invigoration of Ubudu Cattle Ranch Resorts where Duke created the idea of the Obudu Ranch International Mountain Race and the race grew to become one of the most lucrative mountain running competitions in the world under his stewardship. it has the largest total prize money available of any mountain race and is known as "the world's richest mountain race". He initiated the condtruction of Tinapa business resort reckoned as the biggest business resort in Africa. The resort has about 80,000 square metres (860,000 sq ft) of lettable space for retail and wholesale made up of four emporiums of 10,000 square metres (110,000 sq ft) each and smaller shops, warehouses, etc.He created Calabar Carnival ' Africa's Biggest Street Party' in 2004. the carnival. they carnival creates employment annually and attracts tens of thousands of tourist in and outside Nigeria to the state.
Duke as a governor also made strides in environment by building structures and employing policies that made the state the cleanest in Nigeria

In the first place is Chibuike Amaechi (Governor of Rivers state 2007-2015)

Honerable Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi is just a governor in his own class. his vision is legendary and can be best be describe as a leader of 'numerics with quality' his famous 60/60/60 project(health), 500/24(Education), 13,000 teachers (Employment), etc. Quantifiable projects some would say. there is no single governor in Nigeria that have touch all the sectors of the economy as much as the former Rivers governor. He did wonders in Education, Health, physical infrastructure, Job creation and human capital development, Agriculture, Sports, power, etc not only did he touched all these sectors but he did that with outstanding quality.
In Education he built from the scratch the best public schools in Nigeria numbering hundreds and scattered in all nook and cranny of the state. the schools are equipped with ict facilities, library, sick bay, sports facilities like football pitch, basket ball court, volleyball court, etc. the schools are absolutely free with free school uniforms and books. No wonder the state attracted the UN book capital. In health he built over a hundred primary and secondary health centers well equipped and are absolute free for all. He subsequently employed and trained over 700 doctors to man the health centers. in human empowerment and job creation, he sponsored over two thousand youth for overseas scholarship and employed over 13,000 youths as teachers. In physical infrastructure he elevated the state from a state that barely has less than two carriage Roads to one with tens of dual carriage roads with street lights, sub drainage system and pedestrian walk way. constructed several bridges and interchange. In sports he built a sport village that will pass for international Olympic games with 40,000 stadium capacity, two standard volley, basketball court, two Olympic size swimming pool, etc. In power he added over 300mW of power to the national grid. In agriculture he employed thousands through Songhai farm initiative, Banana plantation, Buguma fish farm reputed as the largest fish farm in Nigeria, etc. other legacies include the greater Ph, first phase of monorail project, rainbow town and other housing projects.

wow! thanks for your time.
let me try to summarize
from your first paragraph you try to compare Rivers and Lagos in terms of GDP and economic diversity citing security as a stumbling block for Rivers

from your second paragraph you also pointed out that River despite having better GDP/Capital do not translate to investment in order to grow other sectors of the already oil-mono economy due to insecurity and the disposition/character of the person at the center (governor)

from the third you said Rivers government has not really develop human capacity that is why most companies in Rivers look to Lagos for most of their fabrication a trend you said started some ten years ago. PH cannot compete with cities like Aba, onitcha, Lagos, etc because of same.

what I can descend from what you are saying in the fourth is that Rivers governors Have performed below par in infrastructure that for instance, lagos focuses on developing commerce than commissioning projects.

your last paragraph is similar to the first ie consumer investing, security issues in addition to random government project.

please is the summary in order?

well from your write up, the recurring decimal in all what you said is the security and other issues which is peculiar to Rivers. the issue of cultism, militancy, communal clashes, thuggery, election violence, etc. these are issues as you pointed out scare the hell out of prospective investors from the state. The offshoot of all the points you made are all caused by these issues. unfortunately, due to political reasons the governors in that state may not be able to fight insecurity without the full support of the center. you may recall how Niger Delta region was besieged by militancy during Obasanjo era. even with the full force of the federal might he could not win the war. A lot of expertrate flew the region. a lot of companies both indigenous and foreign closed down. It even took dialog and pleading for the Yaradua government to placate the youth of that region.
so you can see that the problem of that region of the country is very peculiar and as a governor you really have to deal with the fact that your state is a high risk state for investor. the best you can do is to fight insecurity while building infrastructure to restore investors confidence in your region and that takes time my dear friend.

I love d way both of u av narrated d whole issues..May God continue to bless both of u

Duke is 1 cs Wat he built is Wat dis clowns called Imoke and Ayade are trying hard 2 destroy but can't

Amaechi dat couldn't complete a monorail u had dey brain 2 give him number 1 spot, then wouldn't be surprised if you give him best minister from 1999 till date

Number 2 is Akpabio he was governor 2007 till 2015 and did good roads but he is truly felt in his own constituency the Ananng speaking people cs he took all state and 90% federal presence there

So in my opinion Donald Duke and Godswill Akpabio deserve dey spots but dey made politics a dirty one and if theses 2 where governors during OBJ time apart from Duke he could have achieved his 3rd term agenda

google Calabar monorail and Rivers monorail then you will only but appreciate Amaechi

google will tell you that calabar monorail was started by your almighty Duke but he couldn't finish it, Imoke continued but he could'nt finish it, Ayede just completed it few months ago and guess what the distance is a 'whooping' 650M cheesy (over 15yrs, three administration shocked)

Now compare with Amaechi he did 2.6KM in 4yrs (main while the one Amaechi did has far more scope in terms of number of track and stations)

Now call Amaechi the boss cool

combine your duke and Akpabio's Achievement then compare them with Amaechi's in all sector of economy such as Education, Health, Agriculture, job creation and empowerment, infrastructure, security, etc.

Totally meaningless ranking. How do you compare Gombe to Rivers ? On what basis ? Do they have the same resouces?

Anyway the Best Governor since 1999 is Bola Tinubu. So I really do not know what you are drinking. His achivement is the overhauling of the revenue platform of Lagos State and putting Lagos on a path to greatness.

Bola Tinuubu is a master at identifying talent and bringing the to work for him. BRT is his brainchild which he started as is the Badagry Expressway and lots more.
It is not cement and sand ,concrete and mortar that makes a governor great. Even GEJ did a lot of that which he is not given credit for. Afterall IBB built Abuja more or less.

It is setting the right priorities. Imagine that Nigeria has been in recession and Lagos State is not aware

Akwa Ibom and its people are amongst the most backward in Southern Nigeria. No offense just the bitter truth and Akpabio did not change that.

Akwa Ibo still has no plan or way to survive without oil money

Tinubu is the man for me
Created LASTMA

Pioneered BRT and LAGBUS
Reformed LASUTH
Created 37 LCDAs and withstood the withholding of funds by OBasanjo thus proving Lagos could stand alone against blackmail

Go and check how many court cases he took to the Supreme Court just to enshrine FEDERALISM which have now concluded and settled many matters in favour of states which PDP governors sheeply ignored.

His reform to the revenue base of the state needs no introduction
He envisioned : Eko Atlantic,The Badagry express way and the Metro projuct but it is not all about projects but future vision

Tinubuis better than all those 5 put together.

Just imagine he was in the place of Akpabio,Ibori or Amaechi I cannot imagine any of those states would not have a thriving seaport and international airport

I am not sure what your point is with this comment.. or how it relates to what I said

Actually Lagos is NOT the richest state in per capita terms i.e the ratio of its revenue to population. I am sure Rivers ,Akwa Ibo are much better on that point

Now that IGR that you mention did not happen by magic.

In 1999 when Tinubu came to power IGR in Lagos was 600million naira a month or 7 billion a year with a total budget of 14 billion. In short when he came to power Lagos was nearly bankrupt and in 2007 when he left it was running a 240 billion a year budget. That was his legacy to Fashola

We must not forget that Tinubu funded the LGA s because Obasanjo withheld their funds. This only made Lagos stronger. I really do not like Tinubu's politics but as an economic visionary he has no pair in Nigerian politics today not just for vision but his ability to select performers. If Buhari had given him space we might be singing a different story nationally

Th question I would ask about the others.Who were their team? Where are their team members now? Akpabio surrounded himself with yes men. I remember a commissioner kneling before his wife in public

understand that GDP per capital of state is different from money available in government coffers. in tact the larger the population the larger the commercial activities and more money will be available for the government of non welfare state like lag.
nb lag has never been a big spender in scholarship, education, education, health, etc

So what are u insinuating
