*Topic:* TRIALS TRAIN US
*Read: HEBREWS 12:1-12

*MEMORISE:* _If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?_ *(Hebrews 12:7)*

*EXPOSITION*
That you are Christ's faithful disciple doesn't immune you from going through hard times. Trials also visit Christians. In fact, God had to send message to those Hebrew Christians who were going through hard times, in *Hebrews 12:1-12*. They were being tempted to feel sorry for themselves and give up their rewarding faith, thinking that the Lord had given up on them, just like what we are also experiencing, today. Thus, the author urged them to remember Jesus, so that they wouldn't lose heart. God challenged them not to forget His Word of encouragement, the Scripture. The more they immersed themselves in it, the more assurance of being God's children they would have. That would further help to lift their spirit when they go through trying situations that the author of epistle to the Hebrews opines as God's way of chastising His children for their betterment.

One of the quickest ways to ruin a child is to give him whatever he wants and let him do whatever pleases him. If God doesn't discipline us or put us through things we do not like, sometimes, it would mean that He doesn't love us and doesn't care about the kind of people we turn out to be. That God is our loving Father means He would sometimes use trial to train us.

Our fathers discipline us for a little while, as they think best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in His holiness. This discipline might not be pleasant now, but we would thank God for it ultimately. Even the Messiah was trained through suffering *(Hebrews 5:*.

*PRAYER POINTS:*
*1.* Lord, give me the understanding of Your workings through trying situations in my life.
*2.* Lord, give me the endurance to walk through the thorn bush of discipline with You, in my own interest.
*3.* Lord, restore the culture of godly discipline that is fast fading away from homes, schools and the society, in Jesus name.
