Supreme Court Alleges Bribery Attempt In Abia Governorship Tussle by sharpden: 1:01pm On May 12, 2017
THE Supreme Court on Friday affirmed Okezie Ikpeazu as the validly elected Abia State Governor. The affirmation was by two out of the three-man panel of the Supreme Court, which sat on the suit by Uche Ogah challenging the nomination and election of Ikpeazu

The judgment of the Supreme Court was an affirmation of the one by the Court of Appeal, which also threw out Ogah’s suit.

Ogah had gone to court claiming he was the validly elected candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, the platform on which Ikpeazu emerged governor.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Wlater Onnoghen, who led the three-man Supreme Court panel, described the case as a storm in a teacup.

Onnoghen said Ogah’s case should not have been entertained in the first place.

He said politicians should stop trying to influence the judiciary, adding that there was a security breach, which will be investigated by the court.

He wondered why some politicians would attempt to bribe court employees to know who will be writing the judgment in the case or the outcome of the case itself.
