Despite public criticisms against the National Assembly’s huge budget, details obtained by Post-Nigeria, show that the 8th Assembly has increased its budget from N115 billion in 2016, to an aggregate of N125 billion this year, making an additional whopping sum of N10,000,000,000 increment. In the budget President Muhammadu Buhari presented to the joint sitting of the Senate and House of Representatives, in December 2016, the sum of N125 billion was proposed, showing a difference of N10 billion, an amount that could fund some Ministries, Departments and Agencie, MDAs, for a year. That's why I pity those who comes to shout names of those senators. They're all the same. No tangible project, bogus pay. For one thing, Nigeria don't even need 2 chambers. |

mikolo80: Well, I may not "clearly know how democrat and politics works" as you do...I accept that. But I do know, that countries that practice Unicameralism are more than those that practice Bicameralism in numbers. And they're doing fine and mostly better, politically, economically, than us. Did their democracy becomes less of a balanced or without checks? What exact role do the 2 house play? House of Senate is filled with old men who have held one public or the other, people who are still collecting pension from their former positions. Look at their list and confirm what I'm saying. Then what about the house of representatives? Mostly younger than those in the upper house. But when do their voice carries a legal backing? Why can't they pass bill themselves, but only provide assisting capacity? Before you do think they make law also, please enlighten me on one law they'd made so far... You think their won't be checks n balance merge them into one house or scrap the Senate? |
