SECRET OF GREATNESS
READ 1 CHRONICLES 29:10-13
MEMORISE: Both riches and honour come from You. And You reign over all. And in Your hand is power and might. And in Your hand it is to make great and give strength to all (1 Chronicles 29:12)

It is obvious from the passage above that the power to make great is in God’s hand. It is God who plants the seed of greatness in the life of everyone. It is God who guides one’s steps in the path of greatness. He is the one who moulds one’s character to achieve greatness; character and greatness works together. You cannot be great, according to God’s principle of greatness, without developing godly character. This is exemplified in the lives of Isaac (Gen 26:1-3,12-13), Joseph (Gen 39:1-4,7-9; 41:38), and Daniel (Dan 1:3-8; 6:1-3).
Isaac was instructed by God to remain in Gerar. He did not only obey God, but he trusted Him and worked (planted crops) in that land, despite the famine. He reaped a hundred fold, and became great, until he became exceedingly great.
Joseph, despite being hated by his brothers and sold into slavery, kept his integrity, because he feared God. His conviction in the face of inescapable imprisonment, How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? (Gen 39:9), really endeared him to God, in preparation for the throne.
Daniel, though a captive in that strange and ungodly land, refused to defile himself with the royal food and wine, despite being privileged to be in the royal family. His character took him to the top.
These three men became great in their own time, because they cooperated with God in following God’s principle of greatness. They all developed godly character and were made great. Do you care to be like them?

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Oh Lord, give me the right character for the throne You have for me.
2. Lord, help our youths to me more character-driven in their relationships, than materialism-driven.
3. Lord, help Christians that You have ordained to glorify You through martyrdom, to go through it, gracefully and honourably.
