How many people have a basic first aid kit at home? If you do, that is great but if you don’t don’t worry, we’re here to help you set up one.

A basic First Aid kit is just that- basic. It does not require anything overly complicated but simple medical equipment that are easily accessible and can be quickly used at home.

Here are Items you would need for a basic First Aid Kit

A box- It could be something as simple as a plastic container or something as complex as an iron box. You do need to make sure that your box is water proof to prevent the items in the box getting wet. A moist or wet environment is an ideal environment for bacteria to grow. You want to avoid that at all costs.

Gauze: This is helpful if you need to clean a wound or stem the flow of bleeding

Plaster: This is self-explanatory and helpful for minor cuts.

Gloves: The aim of this is to prevent transfer of germs and keep the wound environment clean.

Cleanser or Antibiotic: To clean the wound or cut

Thermometer- There are some fairly cheap and easy to get thermometers in the market for taking temperature.

Bandages: Should you need to wrap around a cut or wound site

Scissors: To cut through your bandages or gauze. As much as possible try and disinfect your scissors if it ever comes in direct contact with blood. You can easily disinfect by putting it in a pot of boiling hot water for a few minutes.

If you are still interested in being proactive and prepared by having a First Aid Kit at home for emergencies, take a look at the link below for a pictorial view.
