Newly appointed Algeria national team head coach, Lucas Alvaraz is refusing to give up on his side’s World Cup hopes despite trailing Nigeria with five points in Group B after two matches.

The Les Fennecs kicked off their Russia 2018 campaign on a shaky note, playing 1-1 draw against Cameroon at home, and then lost to the Super Eagles 3-1 in their second game, but the Spaniard is hoping that his side can grab full points against Zambia in their next two games in August to stand a chance to contend for the ticket.

“Obviously, we’re not the favourites, but we have to do everything in our power to get as many points and wins as we can,” Alcaraz told Fifa website.

“We have to fight hard in every game to make sure there are no regrets at the end of it all.
