If northerners are so concerned with southerners in positions of responsibility why then don't they go their own way and create their Arewa Islamic Republic and leave the rest of us alone.

I can guarantee you that if the northerners said that they wanted to leave today there would be people from Lagos to Calabar protesting in favor of their secession.

The people would self declare a national holiday.

Millions of goats and cows would be slaughtered in villages all over southern Nigeria.

This is long overdue as Kachikwu has achieved a lot both as NNPC head and Petroleum minister. Those who understand the industry will always praise him.
From negotiating the govt out of the huge burden of Joint venture cash calls amounting to billions of dollars to fixing the refineries and major loading depots. He's finally seen that the repaired refineries will operate at a big loss to govt hence the handing over to ENI(Agip) and the Original manufacturer for complete overhauling and possible collocation of new refineries beside the existing ones.
This is the first time in our history that I go to NNPC's website and I see monthly reports of oil production and earnings for the govt.
I just hope he sends the PIB on time before the end of this tenure to open up the petroleum industry.
Kudos to Kachikwu. The fictitious cabal can go to hell.

Brother, don't view my opinion from tribalism aspect but the southern unity is not or almost impossible to achieve especially with respect to the latest bile between these two heavyweights(Igbo and Yoruba tribes)

Ofcourse Igbo are still angered that yoruba betrayed them severally (especially during the last presidential election) hence crying more than the bereaved (SS region) as they are not ready to mingle with treacherous people according to them.

Politics is very difficult to analysed in Nigeria especially now that there is so much religious and tribal differences.

To be fair, we still benefit from them in Agricultural sector. We depend on them for cattle, food crops(tomatoes, beans, etc). Aside this, I can't really see other benefits.

However having a southern Nigeria would be great but am afraid the unity has almost gone beyond redemption.

The bolded explains the archaic view of the northerners(especially NW region) and am afraid if the SE choose to vote them having one of their kinsman as VP slot, these power drunken people will repeat same thing if there is a compromise.
