I don't think too many pple scored too high scores this time. I still see around me a lot ofpeople that failed mixed with those that did not. The difference this year is that it was easier this year for those who read to do well which is what examinations should be about?? My nephew scored 306 for engineering and he deserved it. That boy read his heart out so when u say the exam was too easy, then its sad that we think that exams are designed to fail students. The new registrar is a true academic that has made a lot ot if effort to take jamb back to what it used to be in our time. U read hard , u pass, u don't read , u fail. The scourge of expos and high scores for cheaters will hopefully be a thing of the past. Let the kids start reading again!!
Exactly,i don't know why people are saying its too easy, questions appear easy to those who study

.I also wrote d exam,I could relate.Things really did not workout for every candidate.I was suppose to write 1:30 pm,but u know what ?,I wrote 10:00pm !! And finished around 12:00Am !!We saw hell that day(Monday batch) at my centre.I don't 't really want to blame anything for my poor performance,278 ,way below what I can do (not bragging).But d Op point is these;many won't gain admission into there dream course because of the system on ground that determines who go in(get admitted) or won't go in even with a high jamb score,but also d uni u applied for is also a huge factor because of d limited space to accommodate all those with high scores.And 4 u to stand a chance,u NEED a high score in BOTH your SSCE & JAMB results.A high score in one may not really give u that EDGE u NEED to gain admission into ur DESIRED & COMPETITIVE course.Wish all jambite success.

If you've written JAMB since they scrapped the PPT, you would had known that the former registrar (Prof. Dibu Ojerinde) is a specialist in failing and giving out imaginary results.

Prof. Oloyede does not make any candidate looks brilliant but rather give most people their desire scores.

Do you know how many people that scored below 180? Go to myschool website to see for yourself and stop judging on few results you see on nairaland.

What make you think those people that have been failing jamb do not deserve more? or the fact that they had failed several times, justify they should fail again this year!

If Oloyede had chosen to go in the way of Dibu by dishing out imaginary results, I'm sure you'll be the first person to condemn him.

I've been observing jamb dealings since the days of (paper type A, B, C etc) and all I can say is Oloyede is FAIR.
don't mind him

I know people who had low marks like 184 201 201 195 209 176

O'level = 50points; Jamb Score = 50points.

So, for ur utme, divide it by 8. E.g suppose you scored 288, it'll be 288/8 =36. That means out of 50points accruable to utme, you've secured 36.

For O'level. This is how it goes:

A1=6points
B2=5points
B3=4points
C4=3points
C5=2points
C6=1points

So, let's say your result looks like this

Maths B2 (that's 5points)
English C4 (that's 3points)
Physics A1 (that's 6points)
Biology B3 (that's 4points)
Chemistry A1 (that's 6points)

Summing the points together, you have 5+3+6+4+6 =24 (out of possible 30)

It'll now be:

24/30*50 = 40. (It means for O'level, you've secured 40 out of possible 50).

Putting the two together, you have

40+36 =76.
So, your aggregate is 76.

You'll realise that though the grades and scores are impressive, a candidate who had this last year would not secure admission to UI, UNILAG or OAU medicine. And that's the import of my post. With huge scores this year, the cut-off may even be higher.

Hope you find this helpful.
Last year unilag futo and UNN used
A1 10
B2 9
B3 8
C4 7
C5 6
C6 5
The only school that used the one you posted was Ui OAU

you are right, I still remember that story and no she didn't not have a low score in her ssce result. She entered only 5grades from her ssce as I recall, when she later found out that she wasn't given admission. She started lamenting via social media saying stuffs that the network had problem that's why she didn't put in all the subjects, so she entered the ones present and submitted. The news is on nairaland u can search for the story coz it was trending then

Getting admitted as a science student will be very competitive this year except the candidate has a good O'level result.

I have seen alot of students with 280-330. Most universities divide Jamb by 8 which means 320/8=40 points. However, most students do not have a strong o'level. Most of the candidates O'LEVEL points will fall into 30 with few having 30-40 points.

This means 40+30=70 points. You should also know most of these guys got less than 320 in jamb. Most are withing the range of 280-304 . So 304/8= 38 points. With total being 68.

What I'm trying to say is most of the science students results are of high score and at the same time this is a big hinderance for them to secure admission as most of them already have a weak waec result. The jamb only compliments their waec which is an advantage to boost their aggregate.

The big issue now is admission. Last year UI medicine and surgery was 71 points with around 170 students to be admitted.. Over 3,000 applicants applied to study at UI and a minimum of 350 applied to study medicine and surgery. Out of the 350, 100 won't meet the cutoff and the remaining students amount to 250.

Now 250 students made the cut or but only 170 are to be admitted. 100 as merit and 70 as cachement. Now the student best bet is to be among the top 100..

Cut off is 71 and a student has 73 while 60 students have 73.4-75 while the rest have 75-75. Now this is what no one likes.

Advice, calculate your aggregate and be sure you're meeting up with cut off or probably apply for change or course to a course where you can cross back to your preferred course

Thank You.

Very good analysis!
