he Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had revised the card maintenance charges in the new guide which was released last month from N100 annually to N50 monthly. This means every debit or credit card holder will pay N600 annually as against the N100 being paid previously.

According to data released recently by the Nigeria Inter Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) the central database for banking transactions in the country show that as at September 30, 2016, there are 29.24 million active cards being used by the 63 million active bank customers.

The new Guide to Bank Charges stipulates that banks charge N50 monthly as card maintenance fee on naira debit and credit cards, while foreign currency denominated debit and credit cards would be charged $20 or its equivalent on an annual basis.

But why is CBN brainless? To withdraw on counter na war, we paid 1k for card now you want to collect #600 per year to maintain a #1000 card either I use it or not for transaction. Its time to deactivate ATM card for all other useless bank in my possession.
Seriously this government is all about stealing from Nigerians with only empty unfulfilled promises to show for it. From the senile president lambasting past administration for medical tourism outside the country to budgeting money for ten federal hospitals to his own clinic only to get sick and spend tax payer's money for medical tourism outside the country and till date he won't give full transparency on amount spent because the money belongs to his great grand father

Wait a minute, is this Bubu administration doing this to alleviate the suffering of the masses or adding more salt into the already salted injuries

We need the services of Okonjo Iwealla and Soludo to serve as special advisers to this Government. Else, Buhari will continue putting round pegs into square holes sad

Would Nigeria still be great?
undecided. Gone are those days when you're given interests. Now, banks add to the mass probs. Anyway, it's still better than having all your money carted away @ your resident cheesy. The offer is still better though,,More power 2 dem elbows cool
Re: CBN Revise Guide To Bank Charges by emmadejust(m): 7:32am On May 20, 2017
Our banking system doesn't want to take any liability in their services to customers even on all the profit they make on transaction.

Human are always indebted to the systems (government) paying several forms of taxes, levy , etc to enjoy the earth resources.
But who did the system (government) buy this earth from or who are they paying to ?

Ask yourself embarassed embarassed

The mor0ns who think APC is a pro-people government would be licking out their rotten brains now. Let's all enjoy the change chain together.
My joy is that we are all in this together.
My pain is that we also have to collectively pay for some person's stewpidity
