You are very wrong bro. The youngest serves the kola and picks last; which I have done many times. Are you an Igbo or you goggled the above opinion? Please try and attend Igbo meetings to learn more bout our traditions.
he is right, from my place.somebody from umudim no matter his age will first take kolanut before the other kindreds.because they are the first born.

it's culture. The youngest must pass the kola around and be the last to pick..it's called respect, something this indomie generation children know nothing about.

ibos don't respect elders but power (especially the youths) . A king or chief can make a statement ordecree and the youths will disobey, believing nothing will happen and nothing happens, they only believe in strength and wealth, a rich man can despise the saying of an elder or king

call me any name you want but it's fact that the youths are more feared n dreaded by any king

So a 14 yo boy can represent a clan! You are dead wrong.

You dont understand Igbo culture then. You should know that Nri occupies an exalted position in Igbo traditional heritage. As Anambrarian i well know that if a man hangs himself in our place he cannot be buried and no one will enter into that room where he died except Nri people. They cut off the rope and the properties inside that house all belong to them. Thats example of how high they are regarded in Igbo land...

You are half right.

Here is the correct explanation:

In Igbo culture, every freeborn is equal. So nobody is made a servant. Rather, anytime kola nut is presented by the owner of the house (the host), there is a particular way it is passed around from source until it reaches the elder that will pray and pour libation

Jim carried the kola and was passing it on to Ikeyi and he may have represented his State or village or clan.

In kola nut tradition, who is senior or elder is not calculated by age but from where the person is from. For instance a little boy of 14years from Nri may have to have the kola before it gets to a 60 year old man from Awka.

Is NRI bigger than Akwa

It is based on seniority of clan, if the 14 year is the oldest member of his clan present and his clan comes first in terms of seniority to that of the 60 years old, yes he will pick first on behalf of his clan.

But if members of a single clan are gathered then the 60 year old picks before the 14 year old.

You Anambra ppl are back with this your nonsense. Keep your useless stories within your anambra and don't generalise it as the entire igbos. Noone gives a hoot about your so callled Nri or whatever outside your area. These concocted and false stories have no bearing in all parts of Abia, Imo, And Ebonyi. Even some parts of Anambra and enugu are not subjected to this false rubbish. Nri or whatever is not the mate of ohafia people or Arochukwu and even isu people from owerri. You should have commented normally and stop peddling lies over the internet

Someone has to serve the Kola nut na. If he is the youngest there then he has to serve it no biggie.

Allow the charlatan that posted this rubbish. It also shows Jim knows the people in the gathering for they to even allow him serve the kolanut cos if he was thought as a stranger they won't give him that privilege. Igbo tradition rocks
